Incidentally, I think this was actually mentioned as a target for Frankel - which makes me wonder if
his price for the Sussex Stakes is a trifle skinny (although he'd lag in if he ran, I'm sure).

The plan is to run in both

I think this was always going to be Frankels first stepp up to 10f+, and may well be his only one, it will depend on the ground at Ascot in Oct (Champions Day) if he stays at 10f & if he wins well at York. If it came up very soft at Ascot, he would prob go back to 1mile (QE11)
Looking forward to seeing Frankel for the 1st time in the flesh at York in Aug, one of my fav meetings of the flat season (Ebor festival) missed it last year Sad
Booked in for the 4days this year Cool all being well.

miller, loved the ebormeeting  myself as it used to be 7 top class races over 3 days, spoilt this meeting as it is now imo

Some idiots were still backing Frankel for the Eclipse yesterday at odds as low as 10/1.
By:

When: 02 Jul 12 16:16
Haven't we had two trainers saying that their horses
would NOT run in certain races, only to run and WIN, so some
would consider a throw away small stake just in case.
I started backing a horse for ARC last year and she was not
supplemented until 26 days later, never had more than £12
on at various stages but the odds were excellent.
By:

When: 02 Jul 12 16:20
I understand that Bazz but we're talking small odds. If, like you did, someone takes a chance a massive prices then fair enough.

We also live in an age where ALL the accepted establishment people were,
in the main, to be trusted with only the odd rogue, but now EVERY damned person
is a liar and a thief, no wonder people are confused!!!!!
I pinpoint on the era of COMMERCIAL TELEVISION and constant bombardment
of lies known as advertisements!!!!!!!
Round about the late 1950s when we followed the yanks and have done ever since.

Does anyone think St nicholas abbey might run here? Can't see camelot or So you Think showing up so if O Brien is to run anything it might be this one?

Agree Bazz.

Quite possible Zagreb. I think they will defo try SNA in a 10f G1 this season, though it might be the Irish Champion.

No cannot agree with that I'm afraid. That point was raised about Frankel's odds for the Eclipse and post race this was mentioned as a possibilty by Cecil. Since then he made it quite clear that the Sussex would be the next race.

There has been an increasing lack of information about horses that are prominent in AP lists from trainers and I have taken this now to mean that there is a problem or unlikely to run.

However HRAC imo has been nothing other than straightforward and so to be classed as a liar and a thief is utterly wrong
By:

When: 03 Jul 12 13:14
I was agreeing about the part re advertising and commercial television.

I believed HRAC from the word go re Frankel, and thats why  the backers of Frankel 24hrs the day before 5-day decs, are Stupid.

Had no doubt about that sint, I was picking up on bazzar's comments. I know they were made as a generalisation but I still felt needed to be challenged

I have no need to defend myself, except to say that HENRY is one of a very few exceptions, otherwise I stand by what I said about confusion in MOST cases.
We have a doctor proved to have murdered 200 or more people, paedophiles in the church, criminals in parliament and Lords and bankers ripping us all off even AFTER the taxpayer bailed them out, DIAMOND delayed his resignation only until he knew HIS payment package was safely ensconced where he wanted it, he will get away with it as is usual, in most cases, especially when aided by corrupt politicians!!!!!!

Quite how you got to that from someone backing Frankel for the Eclipse, in case he did in fact run, is quite beyond me. Didn't realise your post was a complete social commentary, thought this was a thread about horse racing. Hope you can work through your anger soon Laugh

I have been writing to newspaper editors complaining of the decline in honesty in OUR country for about 20 years, just wasting my time and energy, most of them GAIN extra money from the self same advertising of which I complain, ask yourself why some of us react by committing criminal acts when we are bombarded EVERY day and GREED is lauded to the skies.
Sorry for my rant ROOBUCK but as you will realise I don't like the way things are going, I get lots of pleasure from my betting, it's me trying to outguess the connections of horses.

Kind of agree with you there Baz. Last summers riots has a lot to do with promotion of greed, celebrity and mediocrity. Media are as bad as the banks.

Anyway ...!

Just hope Coolmore really go for it and run 3 or 4 including SNA and make it a real test - though as Frankel is by Galileo they may decide it's better for business if he remains unbeaten.

depending on the line up I'll take a day off work to go to this.

Which seems unlikely as I'd want to see a star studded line up vs Frankel :(

The supplemented horsies (if any) would be interesting...dare I say it the likes of Meandre, No Risk At All or Pastorious would be mightly interesting? Maybe even an American raider like Acclamation.....I'll just give up dreaming on that.

.....

as a side note...wouldnt you lot like to go back in time and back one of the International / B&H winners from yesteryear vs Frankel ie Falbrav, Giants Causeway....I'd even put a bit on Roberto or Electrocutionist here. Falbrav would be a max bet job for me.
By:

When: 01 Aug 12 19:18
Certainly not Falbrav. Sea the Stars (obviously)  - maybe Singspiel and Sahkee.
By:

When: 02 Aug 12 12:49
Falbrav was a hugely imposing beast. I still managed not to back him after seeing him in the paddock at York, too.

That's actually a pretty decent line up for Frankel if they all lined up. If they smashed that by 4 or 5 like he does at a mile they'll surely have to seriously consider an Arc tilt.
By:
PeteTheBloke
When: 03 Aug 12 18:24
That's what I was thinking ELG. It would be bloody great, wouldn't it, to see Frankel in the Arc?
By:
PeteTheBloke
When: 07 Aug 12 20:16
Scratch Cirrus des Aigles. It's looking less of a race now. What a pity.
By:
layingisthewayforward
When: 10 Aug 12 12:48
Nathaniel wont be running either.. Going to be a hopeless turn out.
By:
roobuck
When: 10 Aug 12 12:59
Once they supplemented him for the Irish Champion that was always going to be his likely target
By:
A_T
When: 10 Aug 12 13:56
trouble with this race is that it is only ever a target for 10f horses - Nathaniel and Camelot got their eyes on other races - and with Cirrus out the only real opposition to Frankel is his own stamina limitations
By:
PeteTheBloke
When: 10 Aug 12 20:07

If he has any. I can't see 10f being a problem. Especially if the opposition is less than brilliant.
By:

When: 15 Aug 12 17:23
AOB unusually bullish about SNA. Flat,left-handed track over an extended 10f on quickish ground SNA should at least provide somekind of test for Frankel imo. The Sussex Stakes lto was a shocking race for the grade.
By:
Millerracing67
When: 15 Aug 12 21:44
On his best form, SNA will be the bet "without" the fav.
Frankel will be way 2 gd for him & the rest, next wk.
Hope the rain stays away from York, what is the weather forcast for York next wk?
