Tough race to call.

I like one here IF the going remains very soft.

Any betting?
Report HorseRacingExpert June 22, 2012 7:06 PM BST
It would take a very brave man to go against CDA on very soft/heavy going,so i would guess thats the one you would like and no betting yet
Report sintonian June 22, 2012 9:15 PM BST
Nope. CDA likely to be fave isn't he? But he's been on the go for a while.

I was lookinh at the fillies tbh but it all depends on what their prices are.

Meadre needs quick ground, Shareta doesn't look Group1 based on her last run, even though she was given a shocker of a ride.

Galikova absolutley sluiced through the mud in the Vermeille. Trainer rates her highly. Can she win this first time out against the likes of last years Arc winner and CDA?

Value is most likely to be with Danedream.

CDA 4/5
Dane 9/4
Gali 4/1
7 bar

Though I do like Galikova.
Report sintonian June 22, 2012 9:16 PM BST
Planteur did nothing for the form of the Ishapan either.

9f on decentish ground was not up CDA's street at all,12f on soft to heavy is exactly what he wants, hope you are wrong about his price thoShocked i was thinking 2/1 for CDA,atleast, agree that Dane and Gali are the only dangers tho and it looks like CDA will have to make the running and set the pace, which may actually help with this small field,i see Gali sitting near the back and if CDA kicks a fair way out again, could have them in trouble
Report roobuck June 22, 2012 10:21 PM BST
Listen, based on last year's Arc, Danedream must be clear? Unlikely to be the odds I like to play at, but if bigger than 2/1, then maybe
Report HorseRacingExpert June 22, 2012 10:25 PM BST
she will definitely be bigger than 2/1 roobuk, but i still say CDA is impossible to oppose if it comes up v soft heavy

Peter Schiergen's Danedream could book her first trip to Britain with a prominent showing in a superb renewal of the Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud on Sunday.

The German filly was a brilliant winner of last year's Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp and although she disappointed in Japan next time, she made a winning seasonal reappearance in her homeland last month.

She steps back up to Group One level to face four talented rivals this weekend and could earn herself a tilt at the King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot with a big run.

Schiergen said: "She is in very good form and hopefully she will run a very good race on Sunday.

"She has won on soft ground and good ground, so I don't think it matters to her too much.

"There are only five horses in the race on Sunday, but they are five good horses, so it will be an interesting contest.

"We take it race by race. We will see how she runs on Sunday, but the options afterwards are either a race in Germany or the King George at Ascot."

One horse who is almost certainly Ascot-bound is Cirrus Des Aigles, who has winning form at the track having landed last year's Champion Stakes.

He has added two further Group One prizes this season and trainer Corine Barande-Barbe elected to send her star turn for this race rather than Wednesday's Prince Of Wales's Stakes at Royal Ascot.

Barande-Barbe said: "We thought about Ascot but I just felt it would be better to run him over a mile and a half before he goes for the King George.

"There was also no rain around Ascot earlier this week and we would rather stay home and run him on the softer ground on Sunday.

"I'm not sure it will be very soft, but it will be soft and the heavier it is, the more it will trouble the others. It won't bother him.

"All has gone well since his last run, so hopefully he runs well and then we can look forward to the King George."

Freddie Head runs Galikova for the first time this season, a filly who is a half-sister to the incredible Goldikova.

She was most impressive in last year's Prix Vermeille, but disappointed in the Arc and has not been seen since.

Head said: "She is very well and I'm very happy with her.

"It is of course her first run of the year, but I think she is quite fit and I expect her to run a good race.

"It is a tough contest, but I think my filly has improved during the winter. Goldikova improved as she got older and this filly has definitely put on weight and is physically stronger than she was last year.

"She is entered in the King George, but we will see what happens on Sunday."

Of the now retired Goldikova, Head said: "I have not seen her for a while, but I understand she is in foal to Galileo, so that might not be a bad horse!"

Alain de Royer-Dupre's Shareta and the Andre Fabre-trained Meandre complete Sunday's small but select field.

HRE you may well be right if horses are a similar price. But I have no doubt that all thnigs considered, Danedream is a better horse. On that basis I could never back CDA at shorter odds and would prefer to leave it alone. Will see how the market plays before choosing whether to invest but it looks such a tight race, I most likely will not.

G/L if you play CDA

At those prices i'd back Galikova tbh.
Report HorseRacingExpert June 23, 2012 5:27 PM BST
i think there will be better to come soon,365 billys and c0rals are normally much bigger on french pricing up
Report Masterminded June 23, 2012 6:42 PM BST
Cirrus a NR apparently
Report sintonian June 23, 2012 8:50 PM BST
Yep a minor infection I think. A tactical race now with no CDA to pull them along. NO BET

What happened to DANEDREAM?
Report sintonian June 24, 2012 2:56 PM BST
Nothing that I could see. She went through the race well and looked to have a leading chance coming into the straight but when it came down to it she didn't find much and finished last of the 4.

Galikvoa was the eyecatcher here imo. Obviously it was her first race of the season and she was first off the bridle but she rallied at the finish and stayed on past Danedream. Freddie Head probably pleased enough with that effort.

Meandre was a good winner but I thought he wanted quicker ground! Bit of a shock winner
Report HorseRacingExpert June 24, 2012 3:32 PM BST
if only CDA did not pick up the injuryCry 6/4 would have been free moneySad
Report A_T June 24, 2012 6:17 PM BST
I would ignore the form of this race.
