To my mind it finds a stiff seven about its limit!!!

Stable has an excellent record in the handicaps at the meeting, and was an eye-catcher last time. Couldn't have it myself at that price.

Workforce, eyecatching?.restrained a bit, pushed along just before and around the home turn, ridden to the line[[horse in red runs on thru late as well.albeit some lengths off him].
Compare visually, his run there, then look at Fanshawes Deacon blues races just prior to last years Wokingham, easy to spot the stalking horse!!.No comparison. I'm just saying that he doesnt look a plot, even his Cesare only ran in the big handicaps, giving it a go and not running in smaller races to obviously protect his raitng. |

Hello Zilzal,a most astute punter if i remember, any fancies for the Cup?,any angles?,draw etc.
|

Thats a question and a half, i would always want to be within six of each rail in these handicaps at the Royal meeting and it usually changes around the friday(watering!!) from one side to the other.
Still going through the Hunt Cup, but fancy one if it lines up in the Brittania, JACOB CATS showed a lot of improvement when stepped up to 8f at Sandown recently and i think he still could be well handicapped off 85, imho,a large field and a strong pace are going to be right up its street |

Yes Zilzal, good call that one for the Brittania, most enlightening!!!.The Hunt Cup isnt the race it was.
I Used to have one for it lined up 9 months in advance,my namesake the incredible Henry Candys little Pipedreamer won it with the world and his wife on it.[never seen a horse win remotely like it since!!]Buzzards Bay,Tender Heart were all were sticking out large as life. Since the eighties, apart from Surprise Encounter,Norton, and Royal oath and Cesare, its been hard going, with an all time low with Mr Aviator, a horse that was on record as hating fast ground,it still won!!!. Got seconds with Dance and Dance, Huzzah and Ballast,so i'm looking for another Norton who i had after his eye-catching run in the Lincoln, besides,Terry Mills record at the time at Ascot was incredible anyway. I may come up with something later. |

Best one ever for me was the Henry Cecil cast off that went to Reg Akehurst called Red Robbo who was 33-1 in the morning with peslier up, Reg had the 7f animal Tregarron as fav
I would be interested if Bolger sent over Glor Na Mara for the race, 2-2 over the distance, big field form and rated in the high 90s, you cant back his horses ante post with the stables record though, but considering this was 3rd in a dewhurst behind Frankel and could be very unexposed at the distance |
|
By:
Yes Zilzal,Red Robbo, they didnt like that, the upper classes!,he announced his retirement as a trainer straight after!!,swansong?.I was there that day, guess which one i backed?yes his other one!.Glor Na Mara?i'll have to see if he survives the elimination process come post-time,but yes interesting.

Do you guys know whether any of the other handicaps are early entries or are they all at the 5 day stage?
|
|
By:
Pipedreamer, he was given a bit to do and seem to remember whichever horse james doyle was on quite badly hampered him when fallon was trying to extract it from a pocket.
|
|
By:
Roo, im pretty sure they are 5 day stage bar the Hunt Cup and Wokingham
|
|
By:
I'm sorry Workforce,is it his last race we're talking about?,slight bump from another horse alongside, but no horse kept him in at any stage.I've seen incredible perfs from horses in races in the past that went off next time at massive odds next time, and won!!!,so we'll have to wait and see.

an all-time low with Mr Aviator, a horse that was on record as hating fast ground,it still won
you dont want to believe a word those horses say, mate! |
|
By:
Duncan,i believe it was RP analysis that said it,on form a win on the aw at Kempton didnt exactly give it the M.O.of hunt Cup winner, even its leg action suggested it wanted a bit of cut.
