MARINE COMMANDO Certainly has a chance here with the 7lbs taken off his back coupled with him having two runs to get the rust off. All wins at 5f some cause for concern though and needs to show improvement.
THUNDERBALL Loves the softer going (won lto at Ripon on it) and stays 7f so easy to fancy his chances of following up here if ground stays as is. Fallon is one from one for the stable in last five seasons. Contender.
TAJNEED Class act at best who usually saves best for Ripon. Encouraging signs last time at Pontefract (6f; soft) under today's jockey and no shock to see another decent effort.
PEARL ICE Obviously had problems during his short three-race career so far meaning he could be anything when shaking off those niggles. Difficult to assess at present as a result and visual evidence needed before knowing how good he is.
SUMMERINTHECITY Capable on his day as he showed when winning at Haydock (6f; soft) in 2010. Although hasn't really progressed since then despite landing another win last term. Others just better treated in this.
FAST SHOT In fine form at present after landing Ripon event (6f; soft) two weeks ago. Trainer said the easier ground the key to him and his record here over CD is encouraging (31). Easy to see a bold show from this likely improver.
LAYLA’S HERO Ran a fine race here on debut this season when probably should have won and won't mind the conditions, he stays 7f fine. Has a CD win to his name here at Doncaster and deserves a change of luck.
ARGANIL Fine start to campaign when winning at Redcar but then unshipped Amy Ryan last time. Seems much more suited to the AW but won't mind this ease in the going and has a touch of class.
BALLISTA Sole win came on debut and hard to fancy him adding to that tally on first start of the year. Although has performed with credit when the ground has some cut in it.
BABY STRANGE Enjoys himself here, usually under Franny Norton, and has dropped to a mark that he can easily win from. Decent showing in terrible conditions at Beverley latest and bold show not out of question.
JOHANNES Was once very talented but has a lot of the old sparkle now he's the ripe old age of nine. Hard to enthuse about his chances in contest such as this and probably best watched.
FARLOW Likely to have blown the cobwebs away with decent showing in AW event recently but needs to step up if going to trouble the judge here. Was an improver last term though and potential to go on again.
SUNRAIDER Another to have lost his way since his younger days and hasn't shown much on his two starts this time around to warrant any faith being placed in him.
MISPLACED FORTUNE Has ground to make up with Fast Shot on the their showing at Ripon latest, but is a former Ayr Silver Cup third off a higher mark so needs respecting.
ONELADYOWNER Half brother to Jimmy Styles who won three times last term. More improvement likely now a 4yo and is 1-1 here at Doncaster with Eddie Ahern 2-2 on him. Record first time out also encouraging (12) and can go well.
GINGER TED Usually takes a little while to kick into gear and chances are this is too competitive to land a blow in on seasonal debut. This highest winning mark too and others appeal more.
AZRAEL Two encouraging efforts so far this term (one here at Doncaster) but never raced over this sprint distance before. Mark is feasible and also helped by the 3lb claim. Possibilities.
LOKI’S REVENGE Has wins on all kinds of going and signed off last term with one at Yarmouth (6f; good) in first time blinkers. Stable aren't in sparkling form at present but has won off 1lbs higher on AW so demands respect.
BECKERMET Getting on years now after once being fairly smart. Has plenty to prove after two below par efforts already this term and hard to enthuse about him landing the spoils here.
L’AMI LOUIS Remains to be seen how he handles the easier going (only win on firm) but potential for more to come this year as a 4yo after just five career starts. Tough to win this after so long off though.
Plenty to like about the chances of the main market principles such as Thunderball and Fast Shot, while Baby Strange often turns in a commanding effort when back at this track. However, it may be worth siding with one at slightly bigger odds in ONELADYOWNER in an attempt to seek the value in the race. His form tailed off towards the end of a longish 3yo campaign last term but his trainer thinks a lot of him from the comments and it’s likely he’s better than his current mark of 85. He’s handled both a sounder surface and the softer going he encountered at Goodwood last term well and he’s one win from one start at Doncaster. As mentioned above, Eddie Ahern is two from two on him and also in blistering form at present winning three of his last four rides.
