Some nice horsies in here but Bode's Arkansas Derby was truly incredible 23,46,1.11 for the 3/4s and destroys Secret Circle down the stretch by 9. Those were Kentucky Derby winning fractions and a KD winning performance. Took the lead early from the widest draw. impressive.
Gemologist and Creative Cause are battlers but do they have the class and speed of Bode?? dont think so.
Will get involved with Union Rags if his price gets bigger. 8/1 would be nice mainly because its not unusual to see beaten Florida Derby horses rebound spectacularly at Churchill.
I've got thoughts about all the runners here so feel free to get a discussion going.
btw I'll nominate Alpha as my - If that wins I'll give up racing - horse.
Yes Dullahan is a rather solid horse in terms of performance. He has his style of running and sticks to it race after race and fine example of how US horses now have a more expansive game with his ability to handle turf, synthetics and dirt. Animal Kingdom and Big Brown were excellent at switching things up and Nobles Promise ran a fine race in the Derby a couple years back after winning on 5 different surfaces. Working well but apart from I'll Have Another everyone seems to be putting in solid drills. Kent Desourmeux knows where the line is in the Derby. Good the partnership is maintained.
Negatives...2 career wins and both at Keeneland...so maybe he just a far happier horsie there. Been a bit disappointed with the Bluegrass since Keeneland switched over to Polytrack. Not sure the race is the taxing Derby trial it once win. Also this was Hansen's first start at 9 furlongs and he completely emptied out.
That said he's in that select group of horses rolling into Churchill on the up!
side note....I wonder which race the owners will target this side of the Atlantic :o ....

Yipppee Day off from work. I was planning on going to Ascot but think I'll give Kempton the swerve and play i/r.
Keep the questions comming...lets get a big K Derby thread going!!!
Any DADDY LONG LEGS fans out there? I've seen worse 40/1 shots win the Derby....Aidan committed to the US, prep run was good, clearly a more talented horsie than Master of Hounds who got 5th last year but he'll have to be with this race so stacked with quality....almost 12-14 deep all top class horses. never know a KD this strong...certainly the last 5 years haven't been anywere near this.
...........
yep about Bode...he would have to overcome the 122 year curse of Apollo...the last horse to win the Derby without racing as a juvenile.
That said - apart from Prospective no other horse in the line up has raced as many times this season so certainly not inexperienced.

Loads of different theories as to why he didnt fire last time like we know he can but its not usually to see horses rebound off a bad run in that race and win / run extremely well in the derby.
If you're buying into the either that this Derby will be a pace meltdown then UR, Creative Cause, I'll have another and Dullahan are the ones who could run from deep and win....plus they have the class.
He's been drilling well Swagger. Loads of different theories as to why he didnt fire last time like we know he can but its not usually to see horses rebound off a bad run in that race and win / run extremely well in the derby. If you're buying into th
From reading your posts i think you follow US racing closer than myself. I just think Union Rags would be unbeaten if he received better rides in all of his races and he is such a scopey speciman that i think he has more improvement in him. I get the impression he hasnt fully let himself down yet but i hope he does on saturday. He could do without being drawn in the car park.

Bode was impressive in Arkansas, and if he repeats that performance in Kentucky he is one monster. Eddie Arcaro -- only jock to win Triple Crown twice -- used to advice punters 'Always go with the one that reads win, win, win.' Gemologist is undefeated. He quickened to lead at Aqeduct and then found again when Alpha came to him and looked sure to get by. Looks like a winner to me, and comes into this for the third race in his cycle. Bode won on Arkansas dirt, but he is a California horse and I would be worried that he left his best race behind at Oaklawn.

yep and gemologist is a battler. agree about the Wood Memorial.
If Creative Cause can put it all together he will be fighting out the finish. Very talented but he's just so awkward when in the stretch but the talent is there.
really nice derby in store...its just stacked with so much quality. hope theres no hard luck stories.

nbc sports have a free stream too...its great for the build up but last year it started to buffer mid race when the users peaked.

Google NBC Livestream and it should take you there ok.Then use stream 1.
I don't want to put the link up here as it would probably end up blocked...you know how it is.
Haven't tried ELG,s BetAmerica link yet but sounds good.
