The prices for tomorrow's race suggest Rougemont's much improved effort when winning the Tattersalls race at the Craven meeting has been underestimated. If he runs to that level again, they're going to need to be top-class to beat him. My main concern is that this comes soon enough after running so fast lto, but at the price he's worth the risk imo.

2pts Rougemont @ 7/2

Good luck.

So do you think Mickdaam is near top class and worth following?

The time Mickdaam clocked at Newmarket marks him out as very decent, yes. However, he was race-fit from Dubai whereas Rougemont was making his seasonal debut and (hopefully) is likely to show greater improvement. I didn't rate Rougemont very highly as a 2yo, but he must have improved over the winter because (on my clock at least) that was a G2-level performance.

I agree with you about the time Mystic, but was it due to the relatively freakish scenario of a big field fast pace over a straight ten furlongs? Will be able to repeat it under such radically different circumstances?

Thank you and good luck! Should handle the ground being by Montjeu.

I wonder if Rougemont might be best fresh/first time out becuase he was similarly impressive when winning his maiden last year, though I take your point his recent win was a higher class race and he may have improved.

I didn't see the race but apparently Joseph Obrien rode a shocker. Any views?

People on Twitter saying it cost the horse 10 lenghts but only made up 5 at the finish or something. I need to watch it for myself.

I think the run of Thought Worthy was meritorious, and think he is potentially a smart middle distance front runner. Looking forward to seeing him in another trial, and would love to see him front run in the Dante.

Think the Gosden horse is a possible one for the Leger. Imperial Monarch better ground or not lost so much ground by going wide and did incredibly well to pick the others up let alone win. Don't get me wrong he's probably had an easier race by missing the worst of the ground but he's gone from first to near on tailed off in a matter of strides. Superb performance.

Rougemont disappointing, but what a ride from O'Brien! Whether it was a good ride or a shocker I'm not sure, but the end justifies the means so you have to err on the side of the former imo. If Imperial Monarch evolves into the next incarnation of Pegasus then we can all look back and call it a shocker!

Think the winner looks a decent animal but the ground was barely raceable so would'nt take the form at face value, why Cecil ran Stipulate in those conditions was a mystery.
