What's happened to his string? Last couple of seasons they have been very slow to start and very slow in general. I know he's always been one to take them along slowly but with the amount of well bred horses he has surely some of them should be firing? If you go back a few years I can remember him having plenty of winners this time of year. Has something changed because a lot of them at Newmarket looked like they had just returned to training. He had a really poor season last year and he is a born winner so I think he's going to be hungrier than ever to put things right. He will certainly have to to keep Moore there.
Acccording to Horses in Training he had 25 older horses at the start of 2011 - this year he only has 7!
One of those was Tazahum that also faded quite quickly yesterday. Both Labarinto and Fiorente are due to run tomorrow but I would much rather wait to see the stable hit some form. If it does then some of his 3yo could be really well handicapped.
Alternatively they could remain out of form or they are all rubbish - comparitively speaking that is

Liam he is exactly the type of horse he normally excels with and indeed if the horses were under a cloud last year, he could be ahead of his mark. However he is 4lb higher than his last win that was over 10F so in Stoute's current apparent form I'll happily give him a swerve.

Its early days in the flat, Stoute does not normally hit form till may and will not want to be giving his horses hard races on soft ground at this stage. On Labarinto 2moro, he looked a 10f horse to me at Goodwood last year.

Only one of his I've seen run anything of a nice race this year was a 3yo gelding making his racecourse debut by High Chapperal. His name was Pistol and he's Highclere owned and I think the short run inat Kempton and the saviness of the Balding horse was what beat him. I think he'll be a decent handicapper in time. It is worrying times, the Ogden horse yesterday in the 1m2f handicap went out like a light. He'd been fifth in a listed race at Sandown last season and you'd think they'd want to find out a bit about him yesterday to see could they sneak a Derby trial or something. Definitely something wrong. Amazing to think that the last half decent miler he had was Zacinto and the last Guineas horse Evasive in 09. Workforce and Harbinger masked a lot of cracks.

that was Charles Chuzzlewitz, or something. And given Stoute had won the race previously with the likes of Papal Bull,Notnowcat and Dr Freemantle it was quite a surprise to see his horse find nothing and fade like that.
He had Zumbi sent off favourite for the Free Handicap at around even money aswell which did not even place.
I genuinely would not back any of his until he's had at least 2 winners.
Fiorente does look an exciting older horse prospect. The last horse to win the John Porter trained by Stoute was no less than Harbinger!! But Soft ground is not ideal for him, it was the excuse they put up for his defeat behind Nathaniel, not that they need an excuse because he won the King George after.
Anyway, I hope he runs well coz he'll probably go to Chester May meeting next and is one for my TTF list. I hope.

That is the fella sint, Timeform rate Zumbi very highly and I was very dissapointed in him. A lot seems to resting on Tales of Grim and when it is mid spring in the flat season and the whole season might be hanging on an unraced horse and a beaten Ledger horse (Sea Moon) stepping up to the plate, there are problems. I say this especially as he simply doesn't seem to be sent 2yo types these days.
Something a bit out of the box lads, but i'm surprised Coolmore (I know they've links with him) don't send him the odd older group class horse as there are plenty of Group 2's and 3's in England that they could compete in and enhance their CV's. I know there is a full programme in Ireland as well of midweek GR 2's and 3's at Leopardstown but I don't think these do much for a horses CV, why is Famous Name still in training if they are worth anything? I think he could really do wonders with a horse like Treasure Beach who won an Irish derby, but seems to have stagnated and is running solidly but could do with a change of scenery.

Forgot about Carlton House lads, might make a Harbinger like splash too maybe? Reports are that he is working well, but then they say that about everything.

he will get it right hes the best trainer around the stable had avirus last season which knocked them back a fair bit especially his 2-y-os and hes always a slow starter throw in the fact that its been heavy ground this week as well i think people are being very premature its a very long season theres no rush those 2 horses in the final 2 races at newbury ran extremely well and will be much the best from there races hes got carlton house ,sea moon, and forente in the older divison
form is temporary class is permanent

Obviously he's a good trainer but if he had the virus last season, it can take a long time to flush it out. I'm sorry but a couple of promising runs from maidens means absolutely nothing. The running of an established horse such as Labarinto is surely more significant?

Counsel could be one of his 3yos that are well handicapped due to the poor stable form last year. Indeed he starts off a lb lower than a horse he beat by 3.5 lengths at Yarmouth.
