NJH's horses otfen bounce after Cheltenham (the record at Aintree has improved and Ayr and Sandown is not too shabby) but I am not sure their horses are running badly, more like they are moderate horses.
Looking from Kempton after the festival to now and many of his runners have been decidely moderate. The ones with reputations who have been beaten - Fourth Estate ran ok on handicap debut, likewise Picture Post and Polly Peachum on bumper debut. Snake Eyes ran a screamer. Prince of Pirates was given an iffy ride and did not take a cut. Aigle D'or is a known rogue. Seven Woods and Heather Royal ran great. Gibb River and Petit Robin ran fine. Owen Glendower was running well before making a mistake. Historically the record post-Cheltenham suggests a 'drop off' but i would not be reading too much into it at this stage. We will know more their better horses come back out. They were all trained to the minute so could bounce but stable form does not greatly worry right now. |

agree, a dip is inevitable at some point just like PFN in his usual January blip

He's had 4 wins and 3 2nds from last 24 runners in England. He's doing ok, I wouldn't be alarmed, I'm not backing any of his on Thursday so we can see how he gets on.

Nicholls has 10 wins and 3 places from 18 runners
very nice form there going into Aintree. Confidence grows for Waffer in Bowl |

Treble on Sat like last year
![]() Simonsig SS Oscar Whisky |

yeah baby
really want to see Sprinter Sacre again - RPR has him 19lb clear or something absolute monster!! Simonsig looks hard to beat too although be interesting to see how Cotton Mill goes |

My concern is horses for Aintree, were trained to peak at Cheltenham not 4 weeks later, then again have had longer than normal break between festivals. Watching brief on 1st day maybe re Henderson fancy Medermit in Bowl.Maybe making of him step up in trip if cutting out errors in every race so far this season,as may go bit slower over 3 miles?
Anyway good luck all, think Darlan bet of meeting if given more prominent ride than lto. |
By:
Agree with watching cheltenham horses on thursdaystevo, and am also very keen on Darlan.
By:
Usual error by Medermit most probably cost him 2nd place, stayed on well.
Henderson 8 runners, only one ran well Burton Port when race was over, thats 4 winners from last 35 runners. Hopefully Darlan in 1st race may put that right? |
By:
yes I have to back Darlan
fingers crossed because I very rarely get it right with McCoy on board |
By:
Right today Judo thank god, despite few little errors and slow pace, Finians very impressive, think Henderson back lol!
By:
Indeed, Finians was impressive. He must have at least 3 great chances tomorrow in SS, Simonsig and Oscar Whisky plus live ones in the National and Bumper.
By:
yes he could seal the title
By:
Nicholls also has ROR & Zark.
I think the title could be decided on the outcome of that race tbh, provided NJH wins with SS and Simonsig, as there wont be much in it after that. |
By:
what about the national?
nicholls wont be collecting any money from it |
By:
I dont think Henderson will be either tbh. They never target the race.
By:
no agree, I dont either but he has a chance whereas nicholls has zero
By:
would'nt say he has no chance,Neptune comes in to the race after a good run with Giles Cross, jumps well and stays well.
By:
I think they'd need to finish 1st or 2nd in the National for that to be decisive - maybe 3rd for Hendo if he sweeps the 1st 3 today.
By:
Present didnt last long.
By:
he did'nt win the last race!!
By:
Oh well, there's always the 2013 championship....
By:
hope you backed him Budde,
By:
Certainly return to form since Thursday for Mr Henderson
By:
Shame Nicholls won National, as done me for 2 bets Sunnyhillboy and Trainers C-Ship bets double whammy, thank god Oscar held on today!
By:
i did sint, thanks, not a lot on,never do in the national, but he was too big a price on here for a horse with proven ability to jump and stay.
