I think it was a bad Dewhurst - thats y im wonderin
U av Parish Hall who won and Bronterre who was just 1/2l behind at 20/1 and 25/1 for the Guineas - of the 3 my preference would be for Bronterre nut i really cant get my head around the price difference in the 3!

I think Abtaal is a decent price at 20/1 if he runs. I can only assume much improved has lived up to his name over the winter :-) I wouldn't be a backer on what he has shown on the race course that's for sure.

I remember they punted Delegator before he won the Craven and went close in the 2000. Personally cant back the stable and imo it wouldnt be a Great guineas if this managed to win

Think its price is a reflection on the poor 2yo colts last year. Of the decent ones Harbour Watch isn't going to make it and Dabirism is going for the French. That leaves the best 2yo who should be given a Derby prep as favourite almost by default. Just think that people have latched on to wanting to get something against Camelot and Meehan has given a positive bulletin and it has just cascaded.
Personally I also think the price should be double figures but maybe he has given a 'Nashwan gallop', who knows. The first five in the Dewhurst may prove to be up with the best of their generation, but they were so close it has to temper enthusiasm for the form.

But the positives, in the context of the horse himself and the actual Guineas itself, are plentiful imo.
The remaining value in the race has to be with any French horses that may come over and John Oxx/Aob second string. But which ones they are is hard to know at this stage ?
Most Improved price has a lot to do with the fact he will go for the race and is seemingly fit and well, albeit there is still 4 weeks to go.

Camelot won't be declared to run until after the Craven by which time Much Improved could be favourite.
I think that Camelot will only run if the trials look as if there isn't anything special and it is a weak year.
If there are a couple of clear cut and impressive winners, may well simply be given a Derby prep

I have seen impressive winners of the Craven trade a higher price immediately after the trial. Got to agree this is one of the worst AP prices in the history of AP punting. Take Camelot out & it wins the Craven then 5/1 fair enough.

So Meehan says in today's RP that Much Improved will win the Craven and wouldn't swap him for anything in the Guineas?
He may well win but that's just asking for a bubble to be burst, though at least he is one trainer giving an update

Have to admire him for putting his neck on the line tbf. It's a high profile race and he has been nothing but open and frank as to what chance he thinks he has.
Ofcourse, this could make him look a t1t if the horse does not make the first 3. Lets hope it does

People read too much into these markets. There is only so much money any one horse can take. There is a finite amount of backers so the odds will inevitably drift at some point.

Most Improved, foaled in the month of May, you have to go back to 1992 , to find the winner of the 2000 Guineas foaled in the month of May, so maybe it is time we had another one. Mr Bolgers horse looks the value at the moment, but then the draw can be a nightmare at Newmarket.

That's probably just Essex guy laying himself prices again. These gambles and lays should have a time on them so people know how long the money has been up for.

btw i believe there is a real gamble on most improved. Some of the comments surrounding the horse from the right people are suggesting he has a very good chance. Nobody will know if the price is lunacy or not until after the actual guineas. I think he will go off favourite.

Most Improved, Manton 2,000 Guineas hope, will miss the Craven Stakes today. The Lawman colt was found to be slightly lame on his near foreleg as he was being prepared to leave for Newmarket early this morning. Manton’s vets were in attendance before 7.30 a.m. investigating the source of Most Improved’s lameness. Their diagnosis will be crucial, but Brian Meehan is optimistic that it will be only a temporary setback. Brian said: “Obviously at this stage his participation is open to question. We will closely monitor the situation in conjunction with the vets, and as soon as they have cleared him, we will keep everyone informed.”

Most Improved continues to undergo tests to diagnose the lameness reported on Thursday morning. The preliminary report from the vets has advised that he will not be ready for the QIPCO 2000 Guineas on Saturday 5th May and he will be taken out of the race this morning. This is extremely disappointing for his Owner and all of the team at the yard.

Most Improved will make his return to action in Sunday's Prix du Jockey Club at Chantilly, trainer Brian Meehan has confirmed.
One of the talking horses over the winter, he was forced to miss his intended comeback in the Craven Stakes and also the 2000 Guineas through injury.
He held an entry in the Heron Stakes at Sandown on Thursday, but Meehan has aimed straight for the top with the Lawman colt, who has done all his racing to date over seven furlongs.
A statement on www.brianmeehan.com said: "Brian Meehan confirms that Most Improved will run in Sunday's Prix du Jockey Club (French Derby) over 10 and a half furlongs at Chantilly.
"His preparation for the 2000 Guineas was interrupted so he could not make the Classic, but he is now back in very good form and working well.
"The French Derby was always on the agenda as a possible post-Guineas target, and it makes even more sense as he is French-bred and eligible for owners' premiums."
The statement added that "Mickael Barzalona is the chosen jockey for Sunday's race", but the Meehan team later tweeted: "Most Improved to be ridden by Kieren Fallon in the French Derby.
