this former smart staying g hurdler looks a fair price on here imo at around 40s on here for the king george chase on boxing day ,o.k i know it seems an age away but the early bird catches the worm (in some cases ) .this horse looks favoured by flat tracks indeed he missed the chelt festival in order to wait for the 3 miler at aintrees grand national meeting .
highly regarded by connections he won a novice chase at wincanton but he ran a cracking race in defeat in the feltham novices chase at kemptons king george meeting beaten about 4 lengths by grans crus with rsa chase winner bobs worth a few lengths behind in 3rd and subsequent festival winner teafor three behind so the form is hot.,siliniarco conte made a mistake 2 out and although beaten fair and square by the winner he was cutting his lead down near the line . this horse is normally a good jumper and has bags of improvement to come .
i cant see bobs worth lining up for this race as he is surely better on stiffer tracks ,same applies to gold cup winner synchronised ,grans crus could be in opposition but he is currently priced at around 8s on here ,riverside theartre is a player if he makes the gig but he has had his share of problems and he is around 7s long run last years winner has a decent chance but he is priced around 5s and i would want bigger than that to be interested .so at the prices a long range interest each way at around 38-40s on here could prove profitable ,and if silvio was to win or run very well at aintree his price will shorten . 1 pt each way 38s good luck

Silviniaco is one of those horses who could go either way, still young he could improve bundles yet. Don't think the Nicholls yard were firing on all cylinders and they might come roaring back next winter
yes judo just thought the price was too big for a promising horse who ticks a few boxes ,right connections classy hurdler ect.

I've always liked him since he made his British debut at Chepstow. I can't see any reason why he'll finish in front of Grands Crus in the KG though.
you may be right bolty but if i remember either ap or ruby said after the race that if the race was run 100 times again then it could not have fallen better for grands crus! make of that what you will but 4 lengths is not a lot to make up and silviniarco looks as though he has improved a bit ,of course grands crus could and is likely to improve as well .
I think being a year younger and not quite as exposed in top class company he may have a little more juice to come out of him. Which has to be balanced by how easily he was dispensed with at Kempton going in to the final turn. His proximity ( just over a couple of lengths) at the line is not a true reflection of their merits on that day in my view.
He is a far more likely future gold cup horse than Grands Crus though in my opinion.

2. Apparently they see him as more a Hennessy type and this is the target over the King George, don't forget when Grand Crus beat him PFN said he won't be in a hurry to bump into the winner again (at Kempton).
3. those 4 lengths. Grand Crus was idling and eased up in the Feltham and is value for double that trust me.

SC was impressive today, but it's easy to get carried away with. He beat very little really. At the weights he beat Wayward Prince about right and the ground was almost certainly too soft for Midnight Chase. Visually very good and we know he's well, but not really learned here if he is any better than he was IMO.
Hard to knock a winning performance like that, and when you look at it back to back with his win at Aintree, he has the look of an improving horse that has done little wrong. Looks like he stays well enough too. What would Nicholls be likely to saddle in the King George if not this beast? Al Ferof?
Not knocking SC JOCI, but not getting carried away with it. He may well be good enough, however this performance doesn't prove it.

I like to see a horse progressing, and it looks like this one is on the upward curve. Whether he can cut it at the top level is still in debate, and probably the only thing putting people off him slightly is his beating by Grands Crus. GC now has question marks after his RSA Chase performance. All very interesting.

cheers lads, only half a job done but encouraging that he put daylight between him and some decent if not upwardly mobile opponents he does look progressive and won quite easily in the end . and if he turns up at kempton he goes there with a fair chance .
Did you see PFN's Dad's comment ? Unlikely to be Kempton bound - basically if they run him in the Hennessey the race is a graveyard isn't it ? PFN loves the Hennessy and I'd read that comment as significant. He wants to bring this chap along a bit so the KG might not figure in that agenda - I hope for you it does Foyles because you've called a 40/1 overprice on him very very well. Maybe he can run in both, maybe he WON'T go to Newbury - seemorbusiness ran and won the Charlie Hall and then had a go at the King George. I reckon you have a real live bet mate.
Harchibald, what exactly did Nicholls senior say re the Hennessy? Missed any post race comments but I was thinking of having a King George bet but obviously not if there's a doubt. Must admit Kempton Boxing Day I thought looked the natural target.

i didnt see the interview with p. nicholls dad and it is a bit concerning tbh ,silvinio seems to need at least 8 weeks between his races, but who knows what is on thier mind ? on the plus side p.nicholls said in the r.post this morning that he has left a lot to work on regarding silvinio conte . also he said they are going to look after him so may be they wont want him to have the hustle and bustle of a gruelling hennesey off of a biggish weight for a 6yo ! we will see ! but if any followed in with me we are in a good positionj to trade out the stake at least !.

SC's Wetherby/Aintree/kempton form hangs together very nicely - he's clearly a big player on those kinds of track.

cheers stront i also thought that the king george was the plan and being a 6 yo i would assume a big competetive staying handicap like the hennesey wouldnt be ideal at this stage if (only )he were mine i would not want to put a young ish horse throgh that at this stage of his carreer but who knows .what weight would he be asked to carry in the hennesey ?
seems like they have not made up thier minds yet ! but said hennesey a possible (irish? )and the target cheltenham ?have traded some out !

I agree with Nicholls comments having arrived at that conclusion following the Feltham where he jumped moderately and often out to his left losing ground. My own personal view is that I wouldn't condemn him for that based on one performance and he'd certainly be a possible for the race but I wouldn't back him either.
As I said on another thread this season would be geared around yesterday and especially the Martell at Aintree with the AON a possible stepping stone to the latter. He wouldn't go to Cheltenham this season and if he did it would be for the Ryanair. Looking after him may pay dividends for next season and there are some serious races to be won with him without bottoming him in a race like the gold cup and arguably taking a chance that he will act around Kempton this time.

Yep - he's only 6 and it's a long game. The early vibe in comments from Nicholls & Walsh seems to be that Kauto Stone might be their KG horse.
Which wouldn't surprise me. He took quite a hold early on yesterday and to me always travelled like much the best horse. Although his form did tail off last season there may have been mitigating factors and they always seemed to have belief that he would come good.

After today I wouldn't write off AF for the GC, that run would have done him the world of good as he's playing catch up, he wants to go the other way round and more crucially, I thought he looked very much like he ran like a stayer today...he got home well...considering the time he's had off that was a good performance.
