think he is great value at 6s....i know he was beaten fair and square lto but think he will be a lot closer on a more suitable track for him and can see him powering up the hill to victory....i hope !!!

Posted on here at the end of last season this horse would not make a good chaser as he showed no agility over hurdles he is too straight backed in his jumping shape. Tje excuses since he was hammered by a class horse have been clutching at giant straws by connections, no wonder they have a 'surprise entry' (not to me) in the Champion Hurdle.

How do you explain him looking foot perfect at every fance at Bangor though Eric? Even though it was an egg and spoon race, you could still see the horse could jump a fence.
The Wayward Lad was all about speed, and that didnt play to PC's strengths imo. He was probably just beaten by a better horse, but I dont think you can say he isnt going to make a chaser on that back of that. |

He looks very neat and economical over his fences. You wonder how he would react when he hits one proper or needs a big leap at the last under pressure imo.
I was actually surprised connections were so quick to go chasing, but what do I know!! |

Not as up on history as some of you lot but I'm with sint here (
  ) how many horses placed in a champion hurdle go on to make top class chasers?With the doubts over HF I'd definitely go for that race again this year, essentially there are novices to beat, they may be good but second season hurdlers and all that... |

I've been betting since 2004 BB so tbh I dont actually know. I cant remember any going back to 2004 anyway.
Maybe someone else with a longer memory will know.. |

I've been betting a lot longer but my memory is poor.
  I just think that with the doubts over HF and the fact that the main opposition are young hurdlers McCain should have another crack at the CH. |

I reckon he would have been in the Arkle last season had he been beaten by Bino in the Ffifth.
They have made no secret that he would go chasing with him sooner rather than later.By beating Bino as he did made them change their plans,dont see them changing again. |

blackburn, fwiw several horses from the 70s & 80s were placed inthe CH and went on to become top grade chasers.
To name a few off the top of my head: Captain Christy, Bula, Barnbrook Again, Night Nurse, Celtic Shot, Lanzarote, Dawn Run & Flyingbolt inthe 60s. |

saxon, remember them well but it seems to have gone out of fashion, or perhaps they're just different types now, Dawn Run was a freak.
Since those days I can barely even remember a top hurdler going chasing, let alone being top class. |

dont necessarily agree that hes not a natural jumper....im thinking about the way the race will be run and a more suitable track with more of an emphasis on stamina (need a 2and a half miler i believe ) and less so on speed

Blackburn, a most notable hurdler who went on to be one of the all time great 2m champion chasers was moscow flyer, and i might get slaughtered for saying this, but PC seems to be in the same mould as moscow. Yet to prove it over fences but by the end of the season he very well could.

lads the bare bones of it is, PC put in one bad run over fences in a race that clearly didnt see him run to form and in conditions that favoured his v talented foe in SS. it was the first time he went right handed which may or may not have attributed to his underwhelming performance!
i hope i dont come accros too offensive but ANYONE yes ANYONE saying that PC cannot reverse form at chelt knows absolutely zilch about horse racing. have they been following the sport for 5 minutes! the horse ran hurricane fly to witjin a length in the champion and by all accounts jumped well in his first 2 chases. ive been reading comments about the horse on the forum since his defeat like hes never won a race, must be all wind up merchants ffs! he has to prove himself alright but anyone thinking that sprinter sacre just have to jump around to win is wildly mistaken. i have no antepost interest in PC and dont even bet ap, once ever infact but if these are the prices of the arkle on the day ill be backing peddlers and ill be expecting him to go v v close! this is directed at anyone in particular, just my own views of the horse and of horse racing in general! who the fook wouldve thought maoi chinn tire could beat grandouet without coming off the bridle? everyday the game makes mugs of us all! peddlers cross will be back! |

Which particular mould are you referring to? MF never ran over hurdles at Cheltenham and only ever won a Grade 1 hurdle because Istabraq fell at the last. They are both bays but visually nothing like each other. PC has achieved far more over hurdles than MF ever did. Where is the similarity? |

Ilwabt, I agree you can forgive PC his run lto to a certain degree, but I dont know why or what it is, but I just dont fancy him as a chaser. We'll find out soon enough. |

just watched donald mccains interview and there was a definite twinkle in his eye when the rematch was mentioned....6s gone 5s now.....im on large at 6s and am going in again at 5s,,,,full steam ahead

Osana was 2nd in CH and 3rd in Arkle, Sizing Europe won Irish Champion Hurdle, My Way de Solzen won World Hurdle and Arkle, Punchestowns, G1 winner and WH 2nd, won G1 novice chase and in reverse Big Bucks won the Aintree novice chase and has some quite good hurdles form ;)

Strange things do happen, Waterloo Boy reversed a 20L beating by Sabin du Loir at Ascot back in the days when the races were run in black and white...

You beat me to it Thieves... well with a couple of them anyway. I was going to mention Osana and Sizing Europe. I'm convinced the latter would have won the Champion Hurdle if he had managed to complete the race 100%.
