Surely in 20-30 years people will say this era was the best ever eg Kauto Star, Denman and also Frankel.
I personally think it can´t be topped..

Alas I was hoping to read about Sea Pigeon, Birds Nest, Monksfield et al...as exciting as current crop are the late 70s will always be the Golden Age for me

Dont think we'll see a better flat horse thank Frankel, tbh. That may sound premature, but he'll be even better in 2012.

It's certainly been a golden age of steeplechasing, and we've been lucky to have Sea the Stars and Frankel so close together.

Interesting to see the best year, this has been a good one

You could say that 65 was a great one with Arkle and Sea Bird, 2009 with STS and Kauto Star

75 with Grundy v Bustino, L'Escargot v Red Rum and Captain Christys breathtaking King George

89 With Dessie, Nashwan , Zilzal and Old Vic

77 with Red Rum, Alleged, Night Nurse

My personal fav would be 73 with Secretariat and probably the best Grand National of all time, sling in last gasp Gold cup by the Dikler over Pendil and the latters King George win and a victory for Comedy of Errors over Buls
