Trainer said he was in great nick before the race and that he'd been trained for it, so it was a poor effort.

Maybe he has not trained on, but we'll find out in time. Bostons Angel has not done much for the RSA form..

Form of last years RSA is not working out to say the least.

The Lexus should give us more of a clue if Bostons and Maganamity both run.

Bostons might be worth a second look at 16/1. Reportedly set to wear blinkers in the Lexus and it wouldn't be the first time an Irish horse has travelled over to Sandown only to disappoint.

Harrington has confirmed him on target for the Lexus so tried a few quid eachway at 16's. QDLR will take all the beating but 7/4 does not appeal much tbh.

No - fair enough that QDLR is shortish, but the difference in prices is staggering. Bostons, Rubi Light and Manganimity all look much too big to me relative to QDLR. I can only assume there are a few likely NRs in there.

Big fan of Rubi Light myself. Personally think if he stays he wins. Rubi beat Sizing comprehensively and QDLR only beat SE because he fell in a hole-different trip I know. No major rain in the next week so the ground should not be too testing.

I've a feeling Jessies Dream and Quel Esprit will turn out to be the best of last seasons staying novices, especially when they go to England for Cheltenham. I could certainly see Timmy hunting Jessies Dream around and running really well in the Gold Cup. QE needs to stand up in a competitive race first and foremost, but he is a huge talent who I'm surprised connections haven't targeted at a major pre Xmas UK handicap, if they were dissmissive of a such a workable mark, they must think he is Grade 1 material still.

Quito is a good hoss but strikes me as a bit of a slow boat, not one to be with when he returns to England, he has surprised a very shrewd trainer. He is probably worthy fav but maybe one worth taking on,one thing is for sure,this and the Hennessey in febuary will suit him and I think they are his most likely chances a of landing a Grade 1.

Boston's Angel caught everyone on the hop last year, but the horse may have realised the exertions he was putting himself through and wised up,Sandown was a horrible choice of track for a horse that never travels smoothly even at his best.

I really like Rubi Light for the Lexus at 4's, hadn't a great prep last time but still roasted them and I'd imagine he'll get the trip. Wonderful way of travelling/jumping and he might be the best chaser in Ireland at the moment.

He is certainly a class act. An extra 4 furlongs from his fine win last time out though .. but if he stays he'd probably win.

I think Rubi Light looks a really good horse, but I'm not sure about the extra distance just yet. I thought he finished tired last time out (still won well enough mind). You could probably argue that an interrupted prep may have been the reason but I think he may be best at 2m4 or 5f for now.
I know QDLR isn't much of a price but I think he will take all the beating in this and is likely to be finishing strong when others are crying enough. The only worry for me is we haven't seen him since the start of November.

Back to the original question. I backed him for the Hennessy and he was bitterly disappointing. The run seemed too bad to be true, never travelling at any point despite clearly being aimed at the race and the trainer having him at his best supposedly - watching brief only for now, whenever he does reappear

Trainer says he had an infection in the Hennessy, which would explain it, as I think that run was too bad to be true.

trainers two runners on hennessey day were both pulled up, were last and never got going, probably picked up something in the box on the way to the track
