Treasure Beach Disgrace

Ballydoyle have always been useless with pacemakers - they would have been much better off not running TB and SNA.

Can't let the riding of TB go without mention. 2nd in the Derby and has since won the Irish Derby and a GRp1
in America last time, yet sacrificed as a pacemaker for SYT. Personally I've never seen anything like it and
if I'd backed it would be livid . It looked disgraceful and AOB has treated punters with utter contempt.

Truly baffling stuff from Ballydoyle

It's not the first time we've seen this sort of thing. Last year's Irish Derby winner Cape Blanco was sent out to set the pace for Coolmore Stallion Canford Cliffs in the Queen Anne according to Richard Hughes.

Sure Cape blanco was a bad one but at leats he was out of form. TB had won his last outing and was potentially an improving 3 y/o I think Jim Mcgrath got confused because he coudn't believe they'd do that.
Having backed SYT and snow fairy it was to my advantage that they did this and it was clearly the ballydoyle
plan for TB to go off quick and settle SYT towards the rear from his poor draw.
From a betting point of view it shows that Ballydoyle have no boundaries as far as sacrificing runners go and that it has to be taken into account. They seem to use cycling tactics, deciding who they want to win today
and the others have to work towards that goal.

shows what a poor race the epsom derby is these days, that the runner up gets sacrificed as a pacemaker.

I backed TB and my first thought was it was a disgrace and a waste of time taking him over there. On reflection with Shareta holding on for second it looks like they were hoping to steal it but he didnt like the heat at all.

Roderic Onconnor has been used as a pacemaker after winning the Guineas. I wasn't surprised by this today, and actually thought they would sacrfice SNA.

Isn't St Nick more of a lucrative sire prospect than Treasure Beach?

Such is their dominance in the stallion market sacrificing a horses stud profile doesn't take a fonk out of them, plenty more where he came form.

It looks as though the powers that be at Ballydoyle may have told AOB that SYT and SNA are the 2 stallions whose value we want enhancing by this race. The question is why is SNA rated a better stallion prospect than
TB and why is TB such a poor stallion prospect. I don't follow breeding much but is it because SNA is from
Montjeu and TB galileo. My guess is that its because SNA is such an imposing looking horse whose genes would
be better than TB's who is no great looking horse. Judging the stallion duties and stud values of Ballydoyle
horses ,is probably the key to understanding what they will do pre-race.
SNA looks an ideal Melbourne Cup horse to me , he stays very well ,is built to carry weight ,loves fast ground
is very consistent in GRP 1 1 1/2m races and competitive in them. Will he ever run in it? Possibly yes if it
would enhance his stud value and no if it wouldn't. IT's sad that the reason whether he would run in it is
never a sporting one , its just business.

IMO TB was left in the lead after monsieur Jarnet decided, wisely, not to sacrifice shareta
Colm did his best, didnt set ridiculous fractions up front from what I could gather.
Probably just the fact that a long hard season did for TB
Tom Segal said the other day what a big fan of Ballydoyle he is, how they never shirk a challenge even in cases like Sea The Stars when up against it

Theyre a big fish in the irish pond & their presence really raises the game over there
Over in the uk there is usually something to test them & they are up against it in terms of travelling-on-the-day
They havent won the derby in a long while after all

Could be backed at 10s for a place on here before the off, for a horse with that form in the book, it was a no-brainer, 10s to win would've been more appropriate, what price would Pour Moi have started? Someone knew........
