The Going At Longchamp

One of the most infuriating things for serious punters, roger - trying to find latest going report for overseas tracks. Websites, Twitter... I've been there many times in past and drawn a blank.

Incredible isn't it, 6 days before the race and nothing on the Longchamp site or France Galop site.

its a joke, not even the provisional entries prior to the forfeit stage.

Entries for the Saturday card are on Pturf now, their (unreliable) going description is 'tres souple' very soft.

I reckon the ground will be riding 'bon' or faster by Sunday.  The weather forecast is dry, warm and sunny for most of the week.  Punters have been backing Snow Fairy for the Arc in expectation of drying conditions.  The going was good at Maisons-Laffitte on Friday and is forecast to remain good for Wednesday's card.

weather forecast report in today's post said it's warm and sunny all week.... averaging about 28c. No rain forecast until after the weekend.

Quote in the RP this morning from the head honcho at Longchamp saying he would water so that it was good to soft on the morning of the Arc to ensure good going by off time.

Water to make the going Good to Soft ? good grief!!

French going reports are worthless.

Presumably he's bought a new pair of waders & needs to try them out?

According to records, the precipitation for September is down about 20% on average.  There has been a week of mostly sunny conditions and the forecast up until Saturday is for mostly sunny conditions, hence the talk of watering.

I've been to most of the last 15 Arcs and rarely is the ground really soft and rarely do those in charge of watering make much use of that, apart from to make the ground safe.  I would suggest, that if the various forecasts are correct, we will be looking at at least GOOD, possibly even possibly GOOD TO FIRM on the day of the race as the track dries fairly quickly.  Best way to suss it out is to look at race times on Saturday against standards - only draback is the often pedestrian pace in some of these!

(Zone-turf.fr) - Due to the weather forecast for the week: warm weather, light wind from the northeast, with no prospect of rain, watering program is being adapted flat on the "Racecourse Longchamp, theater weekend of the Arc de Triomphe saturday 1st and Sunday, October 2:

- A first watering took place on the night of Monday to Tuesday
- A potential last setting is programmed into the night from Thursday to Friday for the weekend ground "good" (good on the scale UK) as close to natural conditions and ensuring the safety of horses.

In addition, the lists will be placed at 20 meters for Saturday's meeting, as well as the Prix du Cadran first race of the meeting Sunday. It will be 0 for the other races. (Press France Galop)

'A De Royer-Dupre will be on hand to personally supervise the watering & may give Sarafina a final walk of the course Fri evening just to confirm it's exactlty as she likes it'. They didn't feel a need to give us this bit.
