JIMMY STYLES Shown can still cut the mustard when landing listed prize earlier in the year here but this odd distance probably not ideal for him and high in the weights now back in a handicap.
WAFFLE Has run some cracking races in defeat this year and interesting to see Hughes take the ride today. First time visor could sharpen him up and while he is high enough in weights he has to be respected.
ZERO MONEY Obviously progressing nicely up the ranks after comfortable victories last twice. Will need to step up to the plate once more after being raised 8lbs in the weights in much tougher contest but remains on a roll at present.
LEXI’S HERO Fairly high in the weights now after profitable season against his age group. No three year old winner of this in the last ten years though and could be vulnerable to wiser sprinter here.
NOCTURNAL AFFAIR Interesting raider from across the water from same stable that won this two years ago. Young O'Brien claims the 3lbs and solid second on debut for yard three weeks back; so another dangerous to rule out.
ANCIENT CROSS Keeps rising up the handicap after producing many a sound effort this term and was coming home strongly last time over this distance at York. Hard to rule out completely but other may be better treated.
BAJAN TRYST Lightly campaigned this time around and only 3lbs higher here than when almost taking this contest last year. Had several top horses behind that day and Fallon booking looks positive. Big price for ability.
DUNGANNON Consistent sort and sure to be improving still being only lightly raced. Latest victory looked classy and this distance could prove ideal for him so plenty to enthuse about today.
ADDICTIVE DREAM Not had the best of luck since landing Ripon event in style back in June but has Frankie in the saddle today who often does well in these contests (Redford, Jimmy Styles). Lightly raced and can be given another chance.
DOCTOR PARKES Has gone a touch off the boil after an explosive start to the season, which saw his shoot up through the ratings. That might just be catching up with him now and easy to oppose today.
RAIN DELAYED Second to Noble Storm off 3lbs higher back in April gives him a chance here but hasn't been at the races for a while now and a tough contest to try and bounce back in despite claims at the weights.
SWISS DREAM Had the run of the race in a weak listed race at HQ last time out and likely to find things much different here. Does have the excellent Olivier Peslier aboard though and is going in the right direction.
JOE PACKET Only fair form to his name and unable to land Bath conditions event last time out so no reason why he should be able to take this much tougher contest today. Trainer is flying at present though.
LUI REI Always threatend to win a decent prize this season and may have one in him next season if not this but hard to enthuse about last two efforts when way down the field and others simply in better form.
TAX FREE Trainer not firing this term in his usual manner but horse obviously handicapped to go close if having a good day, as at Goodwood when chasing home Hoof It. Hard to predict though.
CONFESSIONAL Speed no issue as shown with second in the Dash at Epsom this season and decent second again at Goodwood two starts back. Latest effort ignored and reunited with De Sousa means he is not out of this today.
FAVOURITE GIRL Holds her own in level just below absolute best sprint handicaps and as such will probably struggle today in against some of these. Stiffish mark at present adds to case to oppose her.
BURNING THREAD Sprung huge surprise up at Musselburgh on Derby day but has finished last all four starts since then. Back down to that last winning mark now but almost impossible to have any faith in ability.
VERINCO Smart effort at York only six days ago when just being caught over 6f (winner won again since), so drop back to this trip likely to suit. Might be vulnerable to something sweeping past once more though.
YORK GLORY Hard to knock his progress and probably earned a shot at his elders now after disposing of his own age group in style latest. Now 7lbs higher and in toughest test to date, so plenty to prove, but another going the right way.
RACY Has run his best two races of the season at the Knavesmire and showed good speed there last time out. Up 4lbs today though and not stable pick on jockey bookings so may struggle in this.
SECRET WITNESS Has run very well here in the past and is only 2lbs higher than when taking 5f event here two starts ago. Another who is very good at lower levels but could just struggle today against some of these.
SUMMARY
Plenty to like about a lot of these in many different ways and as tricky as ever to try and find a winner. The front two in the market are clearly progressing well and deserve respect but another who seems to be coming into his own now is DUNGANNON. He won rather smoothly last time out at Ascot and shapes as though this distance will be ideal for him. He has a win at the course to his name and can put up a bold show. Both Waffle and Addictive Dream are very much up to winning this based on earlier season form and have two of the best jockeys around to help them bounce back, so have to be taken into consideration. The Irish challenger, Nocturnal Affair, is one to keep on the right side of with the trainer having won this two years ago and the jockey notching a winner here yesterday. While Bajan Tryst is a big enough price for one who came a very close second in this last season off 3lbs lower and had Deacon Blues, Masamah and Noble Storm behind him that day. Interestingly, at the start of the week the jockey bookings for Fallon and Makin were the other way around; so it may have been a tough call between the two for Philip. He is lightly enough raced this season to do well in the Autumn against handicappers who have been on the go from day one.
Racy for me @16/1. The race at York last time is actually desgined as trial for this race being over 5.5f so im hoping the quicker ground tomorrow will see him hang on as he only got beaten near the finish. Kevin Ryans runners all usually run well in this contest. He had the 2nd,4th, 6th & 7th last year so you can expect all his runners to go well.

good luck with Racy sint, quite like the horse, but the 4lb they put him up for his latest effort makes him now 3lb higher than he has ever been, which for me is slightly off putting, considering he still only has a maiden win to his name. No good at these sprint h'caps myself,so will be cheering him on for you

Take you point about not being a prolific winner but a lot of these tomorrow need a career best also. I've just watched a re-run of his last run at York where he jumped out into the lead, travelled sweet and quicked well. He had poached 2 length lead with half a furlong to run and only got caught right on the line. The going was G/S so hopefully the better ground tomorrow will see him hang on, with Neil Callan being forceful. He is 4lb higher so it will be tougher but 16/1 is more than fair (for me ) , and 23/1 on here.
Hopefully they'll adopt the same tactics, jump and run and see who gets home the strongest.

I'm thinking of a few nibbles in this, still not decided, but Burning thread's "form" caught my eye. in all but one of his runs he's been either last or first! Back to his last winning mark (musselburgh @50/1 a few weeks back).

I have decided to give Lui Rei the benefit of the doubt over his last two runs and hope that Topliss taking off another 3 makes him at least well h'cpd. Plus I don't think the speed tracks suit him, as he gets too far behind and wastes too much energy just getting thereabouts. On a galloping track and over 5.5 which looks just about the right distance, I will take my chance at 50/1.
GL.

Some of you may remember that I had a chat with Marnane a couple of years back and he put me onto Santo Padre, I couldn't get a hold of him over the last couple of days though as he raced through the pre parade ring- due to the fact that I am currently carrying condition. There was a strong word on the track for his horse early today, and in the pre parade he looked superb, I'd had a GOOD bet on him at 16 on here, betfair mobile crashed time after time and a minute before the off I saw he had drifted to 26, and backed him again intending to lay in running at 15 in order to cancel out my original bet. Unfortunately (I thought) betfair mobile crashed again and I couldn't lay off so ended up with 2 GOOD bets (for me) on him. I lost 20% of my bank when betfair crashed a few months back, I won it all back +++ when it crashed today.
