Could anybody tell me the main differences between the Grandstand and the Premier Enclosure? Is it worth paying the extra? Thanks.

The winning post is in line with Premier. Grandstand it's about half a furlong away.
Bear in mind that if you like to view the horses in the pre parade ring or paddock pre race it's a bit academic anyway as the race viewing from the garbage new stand is so poor ,and it's such a crush to get to the viewing areas on a busy day, that you'll probably end up watching the action on a TV set in the stand which is smaller than you have at home. Very noticeable that most connections stay in the paddock and watch on the big screen there.An appalling course. |

The premier you can go to top of the Grandstand and get really good views of the whole course,the grandstand you can only access the ground floor.You have full access to the rest of the course inc paddock,pre parade ring etc.
The winning line is not that far away in Grandstand,and from my experience having been a few times is not as bad as Sir Epicure is making out. All in all you will get better views in premier and much more likely to get a seat if you want one,but you will still see the races in the Grandstand,just not so much comfort. If its a one off,might as well treat yourself i reckon. Also,its nice to get there early,you can see trainers and jockeys arriving,and its good to walk around in a relaxing atmosphere,grab a coffee,and relax before the crowds arrive.Thats what i do anyway,and will be on Champions Day. |

I agree with Buddilea. I went to the first day of Royal Ascot and was pleasantly surprised at the view I got of the paddock and the racing itself from my Grandstand ticket. Saying that I have booked Premier for Champions Day as it is not that much more expensive and want to see the wonderhorse from the best possible vantage point!

Think you have just talked me into upgrading my ticket Joni.I need to get some photos of Frankel for my collection,and a nice one from the top of the grandstand would be ideal i reckon.

I have been looking into going to Ascot for this. My schedule for flights etc would be pretty tight and according to National Rail, the train back to Waterloo will take 1 hour 25 mins, which is much longer than usual.
Does anybody have any experiences of what the trains are like after a meeting? Will there be a long queue or can you get on the first train that arrives no problem? Cheers in advance. |

First train when I went on King George day. I expect you could easily wait at least one though. Change at Reading if you want the fast train.
The last race is rubbish too, so no need to hang around if times are tight. |
