Personality of a warthog might be relavent, no denying his skill mind you.

lovely yard he has but he could with putting a smile on his face
|

That would be a shame, I think there was a lot of jealousy after Sam started doing well, especially after his big win on Little Josh. Some of Paddy's mates couldn't hack that.

Personality ?
Smile ? Don't know the bloke but he strikes me as being a bundle of fun compared to most trainers. |

Agree FB. NTD seems a very open and decent tome. He loves it.
I dont think it was the most wise thing to do stepping up his sons to the best rides so soon, though. Losing someone like Paddy is a huge setback imo from an owners perspective. Nigel might not have any worries about putting his son up on the best horses, but the owners would probably prefer to have someone like Paddy in the saddle.imo. You cant replace experience overnight. |

NTD was on the verge of quitting so we can assume he's in it now to help his sons. Whether it's good for his stable or not, who are we to tell him what to do?

David Nicholls and Aiden O'brien put their sons on their best horses and Twiston-Davies has started to do the
same. Any father is going to favouritise their own sons, you would have to be pretty cold if you didn't. Even Alex Fergurson let his son play for Man Utd. If Brennan cann't handle it tough, it's not like he's ruby walsh. |

ntd should'nt mess with karma...[;)][;)]

not one of my fav trainers and jock situation not ideal. i think ntd places his lesser horses poorly and the good ones he has are scarce tbh. he will need paddy to ride the good ones also, have you ever seen sam hold onto a horse thats going well? he goes for home too far out often imo and im not sure hed get away with it on good horses[:(] he really should be doing better tho with his numbers!
|
|
By:
nigel that is, should be doing better with the amount of horses he has
|
|
By:
yes and no

thik we had this discussion on another day, rev.
![]() Absolutely no doubt that Sam a shade better jock than Brennan, and only 19 as well. So no problem for the Twiston Davies yard that Brennan not there. |

petro, hes strong but knowing when to deliver a nag with a challenge is often equally valuable. age is irrelivant, if hes making mistakes like youd expect a 19 year old to make, he should be stable jock. im not saying he is or isnt! anyhow, the vast majority of twiston davies nags are plodders which come off the bridle in the parade ring, so perhaps the ability to know when to deliver a horse which is going well with a well timed run is less relivant![]() ![]() ![]() |

I've sent your post to the OED. It presents a useful definition of gibberish.

Gentleman amateur imho - case in point... if he doesn't get nice horses from expensive owners he's fxxked...
Mind you, it would be interesting to see if Paul Nichols/Stoute/ and any number of tier one trainers wld fare having to train handicappers :O)PP |

most important part of being a trainer is getting good horses. good trainers get good horses[:(]

I hear what you say, Rev... BUT the classy, talented trainers don't need 500k purchases to make good results - if they have talent and the horse has SOME talent they can place them well... Botti is a case in point - I just wish to feck he wasn't losing Excelerbration so soon, but he's done well with his small troop and picked the horse up for a song and has produced some v fine training, placing performances already... If I were Sheik Mo I'd be sending a pile of my 2 yr olds there next yr to see how he does and then let him boot Sayeed back to handing out speeding tickets! :O)PP
