must be the value against the overhyped wonder of wonders. the epsom oaks looked like
a pretty dreadful renewal in any case. tough as old boots!

I'm with you on this MP. I backed Blue Bunting after the Guineas for Epsom, she was probably a bit unlucky given Dettori's positioning in a race run at a crawl, but even before the race I realised I'd overrated the Guineas card, I think the 1,000 was a very ordinary renewal and I won't be backing her again. I can't get a proper handle on WOW as she's yet to be involved in a truly run race this year, she may have been inconvenienced by the way the Oaks was run but it has to be a bit disappointing that she couldn't go past the winner, who I hadn't been that impressed with going into the Oaks, she might be capable of better but if she wins I won't be kicking myself for not backing her at the current price.

Banimpire narrowly tops my ratings, she looked to have quite a hard race at Ascot and as she's been on the go I would normally think she might have had enough. However, I rated her relatively highly on her second start as a 2yo, she went off the boil afterwards, but using that as a marker I think she could well improve again. All things considered I have to back her at the price.

Bolger on ATR 2day lads was not wanting the rain.Said she is going to run anyway as he, Jim that is, cant do nuttin about zee weather....i agree figgis with your comments on WoW...but she is so well bred she could be a huge improver and win easily....

The ground wouldn't worry me, she handled it at Ascot and travelled well where, for me, she achieved her best form. I know Bolger said she'd prefer better ground but trainers are apt to make such comments when their horses don't win as easily as they'd like. I think it's just a matter of whether she's still going forwards, hopefully she is.

Yesterday at the Curragh the ground was no worse than good to soft on the straight, it was softer for the Ribblesdale. Judging by the times on the round course it reads more like heavy, it certainly didn't appear that way, though. I strongly suspect those slow times were due to rail movements, sometimes they alter distances by huge amounts over there, but unfortunately they don't think punters are worthy of such information.

its lost 5 times on soft, the ground will do it

She's raced on softish ground 5 times, losing 4 and winning 1. One was her debut, where she wasn't strongly fancied to win, 2 were after she recorded that fast time on her second start, she just lost her form imo. Another was her first run this season. As I've said, she handled it perfectly well at Ascot, recording a decent time, that couldn't have happened if she just doesn't act on it.

your making the arguement fit the debate, your talking yourself into it,given its form ,it should be 5/1,holy roman won all on g/f,but thats the good news someof its stock have won on soft,

on its mums side - i searched every and any relative at least 20 horses - not a won had done anything with soft.

ascot was good to soft not soft and hot dry weather ,i fancied it ,and a few years ago i would be doing what you are doing ,talking up the positive - its only chance is they all dont like going,
wonder is very well bred ,real stayers,4/5 looks a good price,

amazing beauty will be 4th.

wonder as never run on soft, its dad won all its races on soft - it should improve 10 lengths

It depends if you rely purely on the clerk's going description, I don't, the ground was soft that day at Ascot, unless you think all the races were slowly run? I don't.

it wont be like curragh soft, anyway be a good race ,dont change your mind,it looks clear on shown form ,but if it was that easy .recoup your looses on fontley

I'm not saying she's a good thing, like I said it depends whether she's had enough for the season, I believe she has potential to improve again but that doesn't mean she will. Even if she can just repeat her best form I reckon she'll go close. WoW might prove different class given a proper test, but at the prices it's a no brainer for me. Whatever happens I won't be blaming the ground for defeat, even if Jim does [;)]

Yeah, she ran a great race, my first take on the form is she didn't improve but she ran right up to her best, with BB improving slightly on her Guineas win. I'm just gutted Dettori left his brain in the stalls at Epsom, as I'd also included her in doubles with Pour Moi at double figures Cry
Once again the round course times at the Curragh have been massively slower, it would be interesting to know what distances are actually being run.

i am not just saying this ,but all what i posted still stands,it was a very poor english oaks -hence the low rating, and rain and banimpire finishing so close, with the slow times - they re just all not the best crop, not one of todays field will win next time out, wonder form never looked good 7th first time out, izzy top as done nothing, bunting won cos it was the classest in the race, the others made it look good
