I was hoping that the Leger would be his main aim this Autumn but after his win yesterday that must be very doubtfulSad
Bar Frozen Fire, I can't remember many Irish Derby winners that ended up contesting the race.

So where next?

The horse obviously stays extremely well so I think 1m2f races are probably of the agenda tbh.

With the wealth of middle distance talent at his disposal this Season is it more than likely Aidan will go the traditional Arc route with him?
Mid Season break/Prix Niel/Arc. Makes sense to me.

I wouldn't have the slighest idea tbh but he usually send his Irish Derby winner for the King George ?
Report A_T June 27, 2011 9:35 AM BST
I would think they will want the King George for St Nick. TB doesn't look quite good enough anyway.

when has aidan ever given a horse a traditional arc prep by resting them?

its always an after thought imo

Grand Prix de Paris if he were mine, last go against 3yo's, ake the most of it. They can't know if he is good enough to beat the older horses, but he is never mentioned in the terms of certain others. Recital must be interesting wherever he goes next.

He'll definitely send one to the Grand Prix, either Seville or TB. I guess whichever one doesn't go to Longchamp will go for the King George with SNA. He did also say a break is a possibility, and he does do it, e.g. Fame and Glory last year.
Report brandyontherocks June 27, 2011 3:17 PM BST
fame and glory ran ran at the curragh in august last year. plus being a 4 year old you would hope he could take his racing better anyway. so the summer break isn't key like it is for 3year olds.

i stand by ap o'brien doesn't target the arc like i think he should.
Report mightymoyes June 27, 2011 8:12 PM BST
hes got so many to choose from this season that at least one is bound to be targeted at the arc first and foremost. figuring out which is the problem.

France for me....Not sure on the quality of the French Colts. Personally don't look up to much bar Pour Moi.

Irish Derby Post race comments from AOB

O'Brien, winning an incredible sixth consecutive Irish Derby, said: 'Memphis Tennesse set a nice, even pace and it seemed to suit all the horses.

'Colm was excellent on Treasure Beach and settled him beautifully before producing him brilliantly.

'Treasure Beach has progressed with every run and he has a few options now - he could go for the Grand Prix de Paris at Longchamp, the King George (Ascot), or else he could have a break before coming back for the second half of the season.

'We are very lucky in that his owners have decided to keep their horses in training as four-year-olds, and that gives us options with giving the three-year-olds breaks.'

No chance of winning an Arc imo. Should go for the Leger.
