2 years ago i made a nice sum out of canford cliffs at 8/1 thanks to people on here, i backed canford and steinbeck then, just wonder if anyone any recommendations this year. i see power and gatepost are 6/1 jf with some firms
Channon seems to have a nice bunch of 2yr olds this season and i was taken with Gatepost at York. Spencer seems to really like the horse and the vibes are that the extra furlong will really suit

Power did it superbly well there the last day gents. He's a beautiful looking colt too if you get up close to him. He'll surely go there with every chance.

I'm really keen on Requinto. The only things that put me off a decent size bet is he was dropped back to 5 last time and Tabor has the fav (Power) in the race. I am going to back him at 20's now (unless someone knows he is definitely going for the Norfolk?)

Thanks for the info Leo - I hadn't spotted that. Looks an interesting race on Sat with Channon having 4 declared and Power and Raphael Santi too. I will be a backer of Requinto on Sat over 5 (hopefully winning all of my stake back and more for the Coventry bet!)

I like Apostle who finished runner-up to Noor Zabeel at York. He had a wide draw that day but plugged on well and it was a huge step-up from his debut where he finished last, he was all at sea and clueless on his debut and it is interesting Michael Bell debuted him at the same track as Art Connoiseur.

In fact, he is declared to run back at York this Saturday, where he should win if he is to be aimed at Ascot. He also has entry for the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh later in the season.

I think Arnold Lane is Channon's best 2yo Colt to date. May not go for the Coventry but if he does I'd back that over Gatepost in terms of value. Nayarra although beeten twice (very close) over 5f is still potentially top class when upped in trip as well.

think Gatepost will win whatever he turns up for at Ascot...been extremely professional during his races so far...showed a sustained turn of foot last time to demolish some half-decent types

couldn't agree more the way gatepost won at York was very impressive. He would have won by further except Jamie (Come from miles back) Spencer made it harder than it should have been.

Kevin Ryan's Royal Ascot hope Brocklebank has been purchased by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.
The youngster impressed when winning a York maiden last week and Highclere managing director Harry Herbert is looking forward to seeing him line up in the Coventry Stakes next month.
Speaking on www.highclereracing.co.uk, Herbert said: "I was very impressed with the colt when he beat our own Apostle at York recently.
"He is a beautiful individual who won in great style that day with over seven lengths back to the third horse.
"We are delighted to have a horse with Kevin Ryan and the plan now is to run Brocklebank next in The Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot."

Requinto faces Raphael Santi over 6 at Naas tomorrow - few other interesting contenders inc a Hannon runner.
I thought I had done my dough - but a small amount of money today for him on Betfair for the Coventry. Needs to win well tomorrow to have any chance of running in the Coventry but a little more hopeful (however only 8 days between races)

Yeah she's pretty fast too, jair, although I actually had her a few pounds faster on her previous run, where at that stage I had her as the fastest 2yo.

yeah you are right figgis about the possible effects of such a big run only a week before the meeting...
wouldn't be surprised if it didn't run, but as you say it looks the best so far.

libourne lad apparently is unlikely to run, be interesting to see where he goes next, july stakes perhaps?
actually with so many of the fancied runners likely to be up with the pace, power, reply, commissar, fulbright just to name a few, I wonder if there will be a tear-up up front and it will set it up for one of the late closers, like gatepost?
