Mordin's 17/20 strikerate thingy throws up Power, Commissar and Gatepost ATM

That's the first 3 in the market then!
Report elisjohn May 17, 2011 9:57 PM BST

Report elisjohn May 17, 2011 9:58 PM BST

Channon seems to have a nice bunch of 2yr olds this season and i was taken with Gatepost at York.
Spencer seems to really like the horse and the vibes are that the extra furlong will really suit
Report soldieroffortune May 18, 2011 8:01 PM BST
Power did it superbly well there the last day gents. He's a beautiful looking colt too if you get up close to him. He'll surely go there with every chance.
Report Howellsy May 18, 2011 8:53 PM BST
I thought Channon's other York winner might be his best hope - Noor Zabeel? Decent speed fig, faster than Gatepost imo.
Report Belmez May 18, 2011 9:53 PM BST
I'm really keen on Requinto.
The only things that put me off a decent size bet is he was
dropped back to 5 last time and Tabor has the fav (Power) in the race.  I am going to back him at 20's now (unless someone knows he is definitely going for the Norfolk?)

Requinto is entered in the 'Marble Hill' at the Curragh on Saturday. I imagine his odds would be cut should he win there.
Report Belmez May 18, 2011 11:26 PM BST
Thanks for the info Leo - I hadn't spotted that.
Looks an interesting race on Sat with Channon having 4 declared and Power and Raphael Santi too.
I will be a backer of Requinto on Sat over 5 (hopefully winning all of my stake back and more for the Coventry bet!)

I like Apostle who finished runner-up to Noor Zabeel at York. He had a wide draw that day but plugged on well and it was a huge step-up from his debut where he finished last, he was all at sea and clueless on his debut and it is interesting  Michael Bell debuted him at the same track as Art Connoiseur. Love
Report sintonian May 19, 2011 4:04 PM BST
In fact, he is declared to run back at York this Saturday, where he should win if he is to be aimed at Ascot. He also has entry for the Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh later in the season.

what do you make after power today and trumpet major at goodwood
Report cruise d May 22, 2011 12:47 PM BST
I think Arnold Lane is Channon's best 2yo Colt to date. May not go for the Coventry but if he does I'd back that over Gatepost in terms of value. Nayarra although beeten twice (very close) over 5f is still potentially top class when upped in trip as well.
Report sintonian May 22, 2011 12:49 PM BST
Apostle ran a cracker but got beat by one of Kevin Ryans, Brockleback, who looked rather decent.
Report gibs May 24, 2011 11:51 AM BST
think Gatepost will win whatever he turns up for at Ascot...been extremely professional during his races so far...showed a sustained turn of foot last time to demolish some half-decent types
Report cabbiegeorge May 26, 2011 8:04 PM BST
couldn't agree more the way gatepost won at York was very impressive. He would have won by further except Jamie (Come from miles back) Spencer made it harder than it should have been.
Report Prospero May 27, 2011 12:12 PM BST
Requinto is surely going for the Norfolk?

When are the entries out lads for the 2yr olds races?
Report sintonian May 29, 2011 8:14 AM BST
Kevin Ryan's Royal Ascot hope Brocklebank has been purchased by Highclere Thoroughbred Racing.

The youngster impressed when winning a York maiden last week and Highclere managing director Harry Herbert is looking forward to seeing him line up in the Coventry Stakes next month.

Speaking on www.highclereracing.co.uk, Herbert said: "I was very impressed with the colt when he beat our own Apostle at York recently.

"He is a beautiful individual who won in great style that day with over seven lengths back to the third horse.

"We are delighted to have a horse with Kevin Ryan and the plan now is to run Brocklebank next in The Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot."

Requinto faces Raphael Santi over 6 at Naas tomorrow - few other interesting contenders inc a Hannon runner.

I thought I had done my dough - but a small amount of money today for him on Betfair for the Coventry. Needs to win well tomorrow to have any chance of running in the Coventry but a little more hopeful (however only 8 days between races)

lilbourne lad impressive today... surprised this isn't trading as favourite
Report Figgis June 6, 2011 10:16 PM BST
Fastest run by a 2yo this season, for me, MP. Dunno if he'll be able to repeat it so quickly next week though?
Report jair1970 June 6, 2011 10:18 PM BST
How good does that make Teolane then , Figgis? (0.3sec behind)
Report Figgis June 6, 2011 10:21 PM BST
Yeah she's pretty fast too, jair, although I actually had her a few pounds faster on her previous run, where at that stage I had her as the fastest 2yo.
Report mythical prince June 6, 2011 10:24 PM BST
yeah you are right figgis about the possible effects of such a big run only a week before the meeting...

wouldn't be surprised if it didn't run, but as you say it looks the best so far.
Report li June 6, 2011 10:54 PM BST
would like to see Roman Soldier of Noseda's in this; impressive last week
Report mythical prince June 7, 2011 1:56 PM BST
libourne lad apparently is unlikely to run, be interesting to see where he goes next, july stakes perhaps?

actually with so many of the fancied runners likely to be up with the pace, power, reply, commissar, fulbright just to name a few, I wonder if there will be a tear-up up front and it will set it up for one of the late closers, like gatepost? Confused
Report sintonian June 7, 2011 2:58 PM BST
possible MP.

I've backed Brocklebank myself as I felt he was a bit big at 20's.
Report mythical prince June 10, 2011 11:24 PM BST
load of money for this barry hills horse who won at haydock, currently trading as favourite. They know!
Report Baxta June 22, 2011 8:12 PM BST
Gatepost was the one to take out of this race, for me.
33/1 for 2000 Guineas, yes please!!
Report Figgis June 26, 2011 2:28 PM BST
Did you stick with LL today, MP?
