Looks a poor renewal as do all the 3yr old compared to Frankel. Thinking maybe Dunboyne Express may be the best of them.

I be laying Roderic O Conner if he is below 3/1....

Ann Marie just tweeted Zoffany had a slight colic this afternoon, he has received treatment for it and will therefore unfortunately miss this Saturdays Guineas.

What a dreadful looking Classic!

I hope there are a few trainers in England and France looking at that race now and thinking; 'we'd have had a chance there.'

IMO and it pains me to say it, Irish racing has serious problems.  Odds on shot s in half the Group races, smallfields and a paucity  of variety and quality at the top.  Because the ones at the top are so dominant, they're not even attracting a decent number of foreign horses to try and get black type.

What needs to be done?  No idea.  For the prize money's pretty good but Classic with a handful of runners and the O'Brien selected aren't gonna interest the wider public for long.

Very disappointing but tbh the field in the French Guineas was nearly as crap its looking a weak year for  3 year old milers. A day out I always enjoy tho :)

Dream Ahead has been forced to miss the 2,000 Guineas in Britain, France and Ireland due to the dry spring but his trainer David Simcock is looking forward to Royal Ascot for his stable star.

"Dream Ahead won't be running in Ireland - the forecast is not in his favour," he said on his website. "It has been a difficult spring for us as we feel we haven't been able to do the work on grass with the horse that we would liked to have done.

"We've always genuinely felt that he is a horse who needs cut in the ground. With it having been so dry for so long, it has been frustrating."

Plenty of rain recently in kildare, and there must be a big chance the ground at the curragh will be yielding. Surely it will be good to firm at ascot and he has no chance of beating frankle. I would not be happy if I owned this horse.

st paddy, zafjarabad? i've been looking at him,and although a maideni think he may run well.
he was catching imp rome at the end of 7f,and is crying out for the mile.
imp rome ran far better in the french guineas than may be apparent, running on strongly after having a far from clear run.Even so he wouldn't have finished much closer imo.
But this is a very substandard classic field and normally i would not entertain a maiden in a stronger renewal.
dubawi gold should,on paper, win and may well do so,but he may be flattered by his proximity to frankel, and his overall form is not up to usual classic standard and at the current prices a stab at oxx's horse is my strategy.

some of the Gropu races in Ireland are such a joke that Famous Name will probably pick up a Group 1 this season. The race he won this season litterally had no worthwhile opposition.

Agreed it is a very poor renewal. I would personally do the opposite to Rubyisgod and back ROC at bigger than 3's. I had a feeling all year that AOB was using the English guineas more as a freshener for this horse and, without Frankel taking him out of his comfort zone, I think you will see a very different horse this time. My only worry is how tiny he is!

I agree that Dubawi Gold is the most likely winner but you wont get rich backing him and there is a very good chance imo that he was flattered by laying off the pace at Newmarket. I am prepared to let him run and if he is good enough so be it.

Not a big fan of Dunboyne and the form of his win in that 3 runner race has been badly let down several times since.

Slim Shady could run into a place as he may be under-rated and the only other one worth mentioning is Master of Hounds who ran a really good race in Kentucky but is surely in need of a bit further.

MOH wont run.

People who want to lay ROD on the back of one poor run are taking a big risk imo, as Aidan uses the English Guineas as prep nowadays (Mastercrafstman). Ditto Misty For Me.

SNA looked awful on his debut this then hacked up next time.

According to Graeme Cunningham who went to see Roderick O,Conner he's seen bugger greyhounds and he simply hasn't developed at all. He was under the cosh for a very long way in the Guineas and I doubt if that race won't have set him even further back. Huge lay for me and will drift like a barge on the day.

It's all right saying Duwabi Gold only finished second because he was ridden to do so but the fact is he beat Native Khan fair and square and finished a street lengths ahead of anything else.

Hughsie certainly thinks he's a very good colt and current price will look very big if he hacks up.

TBH he's got bog all to beat and I reckon he's a stonking bet but will wait, as I reckon he will drift  on the day because of the belief the Guineas was a fluke. 9 bananas to 4 is the target.

People seem to ignore the fact Dubawi Gold has had un upgrade in stable since last season and tend to judge him on his 2yo form, imo.

I'm still thinking O'Brien is struggling for a decent miler this year...

Not bad eh?! Mind you Hughes has a few questions to answer.
