Looks a really interesting 3 way battle between Dandino, St Nicholas Abbey and Midday.
St Nicholas Abbey looked just amazing at Chester, but it could be that the form of that race is suppect. Its hard to see him as not running well over 120 though.
Dandino may rattle them up a bit if ir styas dry, but he will need to have improved a deal to go close against the others.
Midday was pretty sensational today I though. She was once again deeply impressive. Needing the run and having to contend with a classic Frankie ride them to sleep from the front and nick the race effort, she ended up outclassing a pretty decent field and this giving them all 5 lbs. She will appreciate the step up in trip, stays 12 furlongs very well and does seem to be perhaps a bit better than ever.
I would see Midday having a bit too much foot for the St Nicholas Abbey.
Fair shout COT but do you think she will definitely show up?
I don't understand why Stoute is talking about running Workforce in the Brigadier Gerrard when he could wait a week and run over a course and distance that we know suits the horse and win a Group 1 - presumably it's the obsession with trying to win over 10f to make him more sexy as a stallion

I got the impression they won't be going to 10f with Frankel until the International at York. Eclipse only 2 and a half week safter Royal Ascot and if he runs like he did in the Guineas again he may need a decent rest between races. Agree with the OP that Midday was impressive today considering she wouldn't have been at her best and was giving away weight. She really battled. Although when pushed about whether she would take on the colts HC said she was in the Coronation Cup, I wasn't convinced that would be her next target. Wouldn't be surprised if it was the Pretty Polly

Hope all is well cryoftruth, as always some excellent threads on here from you recently.
St Nicholas Abbey for me my friend, a truly superb performance from him there in Chester the last day

By the way gents, great to see a thread posted up here on the Coronation Cup, traditionally a superb race.
Never was there a better renewal than the one we saw in 2008!

Queally said after the race yesterday that they'd be going for the same races again this year with Midday. Does that mean that she'll have a break now until the Nassau or was there some injury last year that I can't remember?

as I recall the 2008 version was won by something of a staying soft ground plodder?
Is this mot right?
St Nick, maybe like Midday, will find the opposition a bit tougher than the race just won. Looks like it could be a cracker.
Tough to give Midday weight over that course and distance though.

Would like to see Midday take on the colts but suspect that won't happen as these days there is a full programme of Group 1s for fillies/mares of her type. Shame as the likes of Triptych and Dahlia used to really light up the summer middle distance races.

Henry suggested that she was going for this race next.
It looks like her programme may be Epsom in June for the Coronation Cup, then Sandown for the Eclipse in July, then York for a repeat Yorkshire Oaks in August, the Prix Vermeille in September and then the Arc.
If she won all them she would be better than even I think.

Midday is a 126 rated filly with Timeform and according to henry may be just a bit better last year. lets suppose she ran to 128 at Epsom , a track she goes well at/ Tis would mean St Nick would need to run a deal better than he has ever run before at a track - Epsom- that may not suit him. Okay he looked fantastic last time, but the ones he beat were essentially trees on the day. I am not sure the middle distance colts will find it easy conceding Midday 3lbs this season. She is very good.

Which is the best of Aidens middle distance older hoses?
I like the Ozzy and St Nick well enough, but the real horse seems to me to be Await The Dawn - a real animal in my mind, destined to win the Eclipse and other big races.
Await The Dawn looks to me like massive value for the Arc. I cannot believe they are laying him on here at odds well over 50/1 - financial suicide imo -
What do you think?

Classy mare Midday is on course to take on the colts in next month's Investec Coronation Cup at Epsom, with connections pleased with her condition since her winning reappearance at York last week.
The Khalid Abdullah-owned five-year-old beat Sajjhaa by two lengths in the Totesport.com Middleton Stakes and featured among 15 horses for the 1m4f Group 1 at Wednesday's forfeit stage.
Midday is the most likely runner of the two in the Coronation Cup," Abdullah's racing manager Teddy Grimthorpe said on Wednesday.
"We were very pleased with her comeback run at York and Henry [Cecil, trainer] says she has done well since then.
"Sariska ran second to Fame And Glory [in the race] last year, so looking at that form line, Midday shouldn't be too far away.

I took a chance and started backing her on here at 18! Not for more than pennies though.
I really like Midday. Last year in the yorkshire oaks I remember putting the bins down when they got to the 3 furlong poll and said "there is only one winner of this..." started walking to the pay out queue at that point. She is pretty special.
Who knows whether she can beat St Nicholas Abbey - it won't be easy. but it won't be easy for him either I suspect. He will certainly find her a it more tricky than the off form trees he managed to out stay at chester anyway.

I only dabbled a bit on this race. I wouldn't normally discuss figures but just this once...
I got around £40 at an average of 11.3 for Midday - hardly life changing stuff. I was lucky to get this price and lucky that my guess that she would be targeted at the race was correct.
I have also laid it off as I am an inveterate coward and like to take a profit ante post just in case something happens and the horse I backed does not turn up.
I am not sure there is that much value at 11/4, but I still prefer her to St Nick (just) so she may still be worth a bet if you aren't yet involved.
