nathaniel is the only horse in training to give frankel a run for his money and given what that's done subsequently,
i'm rather surprised he's trading at a generous 2.8 tommorow in what looks a very ordinary renewal of the chester vase.

treasure beach will carry all the aiden o brien mug money but the main danger will surely be slumber, who looked so impressive
at epsom, although I myself have some doubts about the quality of that race, he still proved he could handle the cambers of that tricky
track, which should stand him in good stead around chester.

Slumber is surely the value at 3.5 or bigger, as he is rated officially 10lbs better than Nathaniel following that easy win at Epsom and should act on the track.  Treasure Beach is likely to need the race.

Nathaniel will need soft ground if he is to go cloase at Epsom. But otherwise he ran well and could have done with a stronger pace. He might be a St Ledger horse according to Gosden.

Soldieroffortune, where is the smart money going for the derby?

I must say, I expected the winner to need the race (like most of O'Brien's runners at this time of year).  No excuses for Slumber, he simply wasn't good enough.  I agree that Nathaniel looks more of a Leger horse than a Derby one.  I very much doubt if the result will have much bearing on the Derby, which still looks wide open.

still think slunber was the best horse in the race.

horror ride, was travelling best of all at the bend and hills just allowed him to drift in behind the eventual front 2 up the straight, awful.

Hope all is well my friend, great to hear from you.

Treasure Beach did it well there today under what I thought was a fine ride. He'd have to improve significantly to win a Derby though.

I agree with you that Nathaniel is probably the one to take out of the race as a real prospect. Middle and upper distances always likely to bring out the best in him and yes even at this stage he looks a real Leger type.

All the best to you mate and keep firing in the winners Happy

I cant argue with that SOF.

It may have taken a while for him to come up with a performance but that was most impressive  Cool
