I know there are loads of threads on individual horses (Frankel, Seville, Native Khan, Recital etc) but perhaps with the main trials upon us we should concentrate all Derby talk to the one thread?

For what it's worth my only bets so far are a few bits and peices between 200-340 on Genius Beast (He was my horse to follow for 2011 - as posted in the thread of that name).

Clearly has a lot to prove but I love his attitude and he is bred for it - might be running in the Dante next week.

Also have a few bits at 140+ on Yasseer who ran 2nd to Carlton House and was then 3rd in the Craven behind Native Khan - though he looks a doubtful runner at this stage.

I did start a Derby thread Uncle, with some useful info posted on it re Nathaniel and other runners.

But Eric Morose joined and and ruined it,as per usual, so I expect he'll be along shortly to ruin this one.

Sint,

On that thread you did mention Slumber and I remember suggesting that unlikely to make the gig as Juddmonte had a lot of possibles and they would need to stump up £75k to enter.

Now with Slumber declared in Vase tomorrow ( against Nathaniel I see ) and Frankel not going, Midsummer Sun not going to go, Sea Moon missing Chester and apparently very coltish in Newmarket paddock and Picture Editor now a pacemaker, a much better chance it will be supplemented. Decided to have a small play at 40s.

On the basis that 'no form like Classic form' Native Khan at 16s looks the best current value but would be happy with your position uncle on Genius Beast. Will certainly get the trip though he looked a bit of a 'grinder' at Sandown - would hope that something with a bit more zip would win the Derby but will be interesting to see how he shapes in a trial.

Dante shaping up to be a cracking trial. Looking at the weather forecasts the going could soften up a lot by then as well - might suit Seville nicely. Both my outsiders are entered so heres hoping at least one of them can run a good race[;)].
