Running in a Group One on the Kentucky Derby undercard over 9 furlongs.

Wow thats incredibly interesting Viva....Cheers for that

Woodford Reserve Turf Classic is the race[:p]

By:
AOB is onrecord as saying they messed him up last season by rushing him, so hopefully more to come.
By:
Isn't he just another overhyped Coolmore horse
![]() Amazing how many times they can come up short and people still believing that what AOB says they can do on the gallops is a better guide to what they have done on the racecourse. |

Obvious long term target would be the Pertemps Final

Duke of Marmalade a prime example of why we shouldn't write them off, horse like Duke has had problems, stout bloodlines, should be getting better with age, look what DeKock has done with some Coolmore horses, but they ain't stallion prospects cos they didn't do it at three. There must be a reason they've kept him.

Could mop up all the top g1 turf races stateside...maybe even jet off to Del Mar for a crack at the Pacific Classic on pro ride.
By:
States turf races the best option for this - good 2 year old but didn't progress and not good enough to win a European Group 1.
By:
Would have won the Champion Stakes last year.Should have been
the best 10f.horse in the country, but kept running over 12f. His seasonal rep.with the weight concession was most impressive. |

Travelled really well in the Irish Derby but either didnt get home ( which looked the case previously on softer ground in Paris ) or didnt go through with the effort ( resolution issues )- running over shorter this year ( Queen Anne entry ) will answer that question

Is Jan Vermeer still running in Kentucky?
By:
![]() Not a bad lucker[;)] |
By:
Entered up @ The Curragh on Monday i think with ATD and SYT
By:
Also entered in the Prix Ganay on Saturday. Doubt he'll go there as Cape Blanco is going, and it looks like So You Think and possibly Await the Dawn are going to the Curragh. I think there's a decent chance he'll go to Kentucky as they're taking Master Of Hounds already.

Set to run at Sandown....hopefully a nice hack around and then on to the King George
By:
He won't be going for the King George. The Eclipse will be his first major target I fancy.
By:
I think the market will underestimate Jan Vermeer next time around. That was a very decent return even if he has a bundle to find with Workforce next time. I still take him on firm ground over 1m2f against anyone when fit[:)]

I don't understand the strong faith people have in this horse. He's way down the pecking order at AOB's & I doubt he'll win another Gp1 in his career. He might win a Gp3 or a weakly contested Gp2 but no more than that. So You Think, Await The Dawn, St Nicholas Abbey, to name but 3 of AOB's that would beat him convincingly over 10-12F. Add in Workforce & the Derby winner, and he'll be doing well to finish within 5L of the winner in the Eclipse (if AOB even bothers running him).

Arlington Million winner imho.
Agree with biggie, he is way down the Ballydoyle pecking order so Globetrotting seems the most probable option for him. Throw in the fact that 10f on firm ground is probably his ideal conditions and it opens plenty of avenues. Arlington Million, Hong Kong Cup and Cox plate would be on the agenda if he were mine, followed by a trip to Dubai next March. |
By:
Question is which of Ballydoyles' older horses are actually champions? I highly doubt this one is.
