Make A Dance
In reality maiden winners have won the last 2 running's of the 1000gns, and as one of those was Ghanaati, I think the time has finally arrived when people are also recognising the possibility of her chances- her price is dropping everywhere. It is an open year, with many going by the wayside, and more to come when you consider the impending ground conditions and the weather we are having. Make A Dance is looking a live outsider when you consider; Her breeding; her dam Clog Dance, a very close relation of Tuning and from the family of Digamist, was second in the Rockfel and Pretty Polly, and was unplaced behind Love Divine in the Oaks, and her half sister Short Dance won the listed Radley Stakes and Michael Seely Memorial Fillies' Stakes. And that she is likely to improve on fast ground. Her masterful trainer Barry Hills; It is obviously a family he knows well. And look at his amazing ability over the years to handle fillies. And as is usual, his yard is in form in April. Her sire Empire Maker; like Dancing Brave, who after he was sold by Prince Khalid Abdullah and shipped off to Japan produced Commander In Chief, White Muzzle and Wemyss Bight, may yet make an impact that is equivalent, since he has another high profile horse that Sir Henry rates as a cross between Reference Point and Twice Over and is now aiming to follow the path of CIC. 'We did it with Commander In Chief, I'm not saying we're going to do it again, but you never know. Is it a clockwork Universe? You bet |

I'd like to know if Barry has backed it. He doesn't often leave his money behind.

I've spent enough without adding more. I saw it falling yesterday and didn't bother. I'm kind of lost with these flat ante posts. I'll just see out what i've got.

More intriguingly, Make A Dance, a maiden winner for trainer Barry Hills and owner Khalid Abdullah, was also cut for the race and is 16-1 (from 25) with Stan James and 14-1 (from 33) with William Hill.

Make A Dance has raceed only twice, pulling four lengths clear in a course maiden in October. But Ghanaati, a second 1,000 Guineas winner for Hills in 2009 after Enstone Spark in 1978, had a similar form profile after winning a Kempton all-weather maiden.
Charlie Hills, son and assistant to his father, said: ‘It’s a big step up in class but her work suggests she is capable of it. The boys at home have certainly been comparing her to Ghanaati and there are definite similarities between the two. ‘We obviously think an awful lot of this filly to be running.’ |
