Does anyone know if it is being trained for the 2000 Guineas?

I don`t know but the vibes are Dubai Prince for the Guineas and Casamento for the Dante and Derby.
Report duncan idaho April 16, 2011 9:53 PM BST
think Zarooni said on RUK in the week that Dubai Prince is no 1 for Guineas...has to be a doubt about Casamento staying 1½m on breeding imo re. Derby

Definitely stamina doubts on pedigree - French Derby is the race for him, with Dubai Prince for Epsom.

Dubai Prince out of Newmarket and Epsom.
Report eric_morris April 18, 2011 11:43 AM BST
Dubai Prince has suffered a setback in training and will miss both the Qipco 2000 Guineas and the Investec Derby.

One of the big hopes for Godolphin this season after winning both his starts at two for Dermot Weld, Dubai Prince has reportedly been diagnosed with a hairline fracture of his right ilial wing and will require time off.

Racing manager Simon Crisford told www.godolphin.com: "It is a big shame as he had been shaping up nicely this spring.

"He will now need a few weeks off but he should be fine for later in the season."

Any news yet?

I assume he won't line up in the Guineas?
Report Graeme83 April 22, 2011 1:11 PM BST
I wonder whether or not Roderic o Connor will run. I see no reason why he should be just over 10/1 on here. He's been roughly this price in the last day or 2.
Report jair1970 April 22, 2011 6:13 PM BST
Seriously?

Coolmore are gonna run something.  I'd say it's 99.9% sure he'll run.
Report Graeme83 April 22, 2011 6:23 PM BST
Fair enough Jair. I just thought 10/1 compared to 7/1 at best every where else was a bit on the generous side if he's running. I've been bitten badly enough with this race so it's a no for me.
Report jair1970 April 22, 2011 6:28 PM BST
They took out Zoffany and the other couple they left in either won't go or may pacemake.

It's possible they had a weak crop last year, and i'm kind of surprised that they're having a crack at Frankel with the same horse, but they might not really have another one for it.  On the flip side, you only need one to win it and Henrythenavigator went off 11/1....
Report sintonian April 22, 2011 6:41 PM BST
I've backed Rod and it's a tiny concern but when you have one horse dominating themarket so much like Frankel is with the 2000, usually you find a lot of the other horses are at inflated prices on Betfair.

I'd be more concerned if his odds were unexpectedly big in the place market.
Report Graeme83 April 22, 2011 6:47 PM BST
I take both your points on board. What about his running style being up front. I don't back many horses who are ridden at the head of affairs. I think h'es ran like this in his last 3 outings. Is there anyway they would alter this ?
Report jair1970 April 22, 2011 7:02 PM BST
Good question...

Arguably, everything they've done with the horse til now is testing the water.  Even winning a G1!
There'll be at least one pacemaker, we think, maybe more, and I wouldn't be surprised to see him held up with half an eye on Frankel.  That said he could be sat 'in the van' with half an eye on Frankel.

In other words, I don't know!

FWIW just watched the Dewhurst again and for sure he was easy on him late on and if anything was getting back to Frankel too.

Sorry to Casamento fans, i've been rather sidetracked
Report Graeme83 April 22, 2011 10:36 PM BST
I'm gonnae stop looking at ways of opposing Frankel. I've got a feeling that sort of thing could end up an expensive hobby. Time for me to cut loses and just watch the race. It would be hard to enjoy a potentially good Frankel win if i lose more. Therefore i'm out.

Front runners often place in the Guineas last couple of years
Report jonibake April 22, 2011 11:14 PM BST
Was doing a bit of reading today and was surprised to learn that not all the Godolphin horses wintered in Dubai this year. The good ones like Casamento, Saamid and Dubai Prince definitely were but it would be interesting to know if the ones that ran well last week were as well. I wouldnt  mind betting they were not.
Report Graeme83 April 22, 2011 11:14 PM BST
Creepy stuff Neil. I looked at the market and 666 grand was matched. Your reply was your 1666 post. It's all pointing to a Path fork victory. Although the Paisleyites might say it points towards Alexander Pope.
Report Graeme83 April 22, 2011 11:20 PM BST
I've no idea Joni. I'm not sure about all this Godolphin thing. I think they should leave horses with whoever they send them out to. Horses just disappear, never to be heard of again. I was looking forward to seeing Dubai Prince.

you've good observation skills Graeme, they stand you well at this game.
Report ocean0201 April 24, 2011 1:08 AM BST
so any news on casamento? will he run the guineas?
Report elisjohn April 24, 2011 8:41 AM BST
do even godolphin know, i doubt it,    shambolic
Report Rondetto April 24, 2011 9:22 AM BST
Wom't matter if he runs or not. We're in big trouble quality wise if Casamento wins any of the classics. Doesn't exactly give the impression he's anything extra special and certainly not the top of the pecking list with Frankie a place firmly held by Saamidd despite his flop in the Dewhurst.

Could it be a return to Irleland is on the cards for Casamanto for the Irish 2000 guineas? I'd say that's as good as he is IMO.
