I almost cried the night before the 1000 last year. AP tickets stuffed in all pockets all running on the good ground wanting Music Show. 2000 was run on good ground and then it pi***d it down all night on the Saturday.
It was still only run good to soft though on the day. Unfortunatly for me all the good was on the stand side and all the soft was on the far side[;)]. Newmarket dries really well though you will need a lot of rain over an extended period to see it any worse than good to soft IMO. |

Apparently it's good to firm good in places. 15mm of water put on the couse during Friday and Saturday - per ATR a few minutes ago.

No rain and no sign of it at present. They will need a lot of watering to take the jar out of it as walking it it is very fast going into the dip.

Newmarket could see rain on Thursday and Friday ahead of the QIPCO Guineas Festival.
The going is currently good to firm (good in places) and watering as neccessary and the situation will continue to be monitored. Newmarket's Clerk of the Course and Director of Racing Michael Prosser said on Monday afternoon: "We put 15 millimetres of water on the course during Friday and Saturday, cut the grass today and will resume watering tomorrow, with another 15 millimetres planned to go down by Wednesday. "The temperatures will be cooler from tomorrow until Thursday when some rain is forecast in the evening and then there could a shower or two on Friday. "Temperatures are set to pick up again for the QIPCO Guineas Festival on Saturday and Sunday. We will reassess the ground towards the end of the week and see whether we need to water again." |

Thunderstorms and heavy rain forecast for the end of the week - keeping the Frankel backers sweating until post time. If there are big downpours and it is on the soft side, it will not be in his favour but I'd back his class to still prevail.

Newmarket watered the track on Tuesday but are monitoring the weather ahead of the QIPCO Guineas Festival.
Clerk of the course Michael Prosser said on Tuesday: "Today it's good to firm, good in places. "We have been watering heavily since the Craven meeting and are again today. "The forecast is for cooler temperatures between Tuesday and Friday, largely dry but there is a possibility of precipitation from Thursday night into Friday, and possibly showers on Saturday. "We will have to be careful about irrigating and will reassess on Thursday." |

Forecast changed again. Looking a lot dryer now.

Easterly winds for the next week - meaning any rain will most likely only be showers. No chance of ground being soft.

Sorry for the late reply. It didn't but there was a shocking draw bias last year on the Sunday that wasn't there on the Saturday. The only difference was the fact that it p****d down all night. If you weren't drawn low you were done for on the straight races. |
