Backed this yesterday at 40s ew 1st 5. I think he is somewhat overlooked this year compared to his position in market last year - maybe as an 11 yo grey and with Nina on bookies feel they can field against him this year.

He ran a corker last year when possibly kept too far off the pace (although maybe he cannot lie up on good ground) and just seemed to tire on run-in. Noticed he only had two quickish runs before last season's race whereas his preparation this time seems much better.

He won't mind a bit of rain either if that falls and the most important factor is the weight he will get off those that finished in front of him last year.  I could see him run very well of 10 4 especially with the experience of last year behind him.

Ive backed this nag in the place market on here. Think I got fantastic value at 12s down to 10s to place. Done vic venturi at the same odds in place market. Both been set for this race. Fingers crossed!

I concur totally Bullwinkle, bad prep last year, think fitness more than anything cost him a place. This horse will need producing at the elbow at the earliest imo, shud make for an enthralling finish if CB is still in contention [:p]

Last year was certainly an excellent sighter for him. Just watched the race again and he was given a ridiculous amount to do. If it was any other race they would probably have been called in! Donny prep looked ideal and I like his chance at the odds.

I almost talked myself into backing the horse and I agree with all the above but I just dont feel he is economical enough at his fences and always seems to put in an extra step instead of standing off and having a real cut. That may seem a touch hyper-critical but over 4 1/2 miles its sure to add up and is possibly the reason he got so far behind last year. Watch him go and win!
