Taking anything under 16s in the Arkle is financially suicidal at this stage. Seldom will you see a more potentially competitive Arkle as this. Al Ferof backers need to remember Noland it is way too far away and way too competitive to be taking anything uner 16s currently.

The RSA does not look as supposedly obvious as last season though it didnt turn out that way. This is a race where true stayers and battlers often turn over the flash hurdles recruits. Bostons Angel, Weapens Amnesty stuffing Time For Rupert and Long Run at short prices. Absolutely no reason whatsover to take under 16s no matter how flash the recruit is perceived at this stage.

We are talking on average here and that is what matters year on year.

The RPost article on Monday tipping various animals seemed an exercise in pointing out the obvious but at sh1t prices in the novice chases making them even more sh1t as a result of tipping them. Well done great idea.

Captain Chris was NOT the top rated hurdler at any stage in the Arkle, available at 33s early and not confirmed for the race until the day before.

Bostons Angel was 33s or longer at this stage right up until the W1seprice RSA tip short range article before the race.

If you want to fall over yourselves to take 10s/12s for just a promising novice a year before the race bearing all this in mind ... good luck, you'll need it on average.

Plenty of merit backing horses before the jump a fence especially if they were highly rated hurdlers. But the time to do it is in september / october, not now.

Dont touch the markets until the autumn at the earliest. No racing over the summer and little will change between now and then. If anything the markets will drift as the post cheltenham hype of  horses dissipates
