Gerald,is that really you? I remember your input to the Grand National thread and your knowledge of sprinters on TRF if its the Gerald i"m thinking of!Blush

I'm not as close a follower of sprinters as I used to be, TAPK.  They actually used to be the only races I betted on.  Main problem is that I don't watch enough racing.  A decade or so ago I used to make a journey to the local bookies to watch particular sprint races.  Now, my internet link is often not good enough, even though I've got a smart PC bought new last May.

Here's a blog that may interest you.  Don't know how good it is - I have a habit of bookmarking things, and then not going back.

Gerald you are sorely missed on TRF,you were top contributor for quite some time and your Grand National thread was a reliable source of information. "Zarkava" was another top forumite to dissapear as was "Big Bucks," "Cheltenham Specialist," "Zenjah," "Halfwaytoheaven," "Goldikova" and "Zamorston" to name but a few! Thanks for the link,i will take a look!Happy

Hi Gerald. Yes i've been on here for donkeys. I used to check in on TRF to see some old posters, but you all dissapeared like dust. You had a real nice thread on the grand national which put you at the top of the pile as far as madness goes. If i recall you actually managed to make a couple of bob out of it. Sometimes getting our stakes back is the biggest relief of all. The last time i saw your name mentioned on there was when Moehat was saying she missed your postings. Gordon got banned for having a head like the Millenium dome. Fist got arrested by the fashion police for wearing denim shorts. The last time i read anything over there Zarkava was posting. Of course any forum i post on now could be potentially viewed from a new 50" plasma tv which was some of my profit from a very succesful ante post Cheltenham stint. Don't tell Gordon about my 60/1 treble or 100/1 double incase he thinks his crown might slip.

Our old "friend" Something is now running in France, and is in the Listed race at Fontainebleau at 1.50 today.

Dandy ran him in a Claimer in Cagnes in January, which he won, and looks like he was claimed.

Gerald, I was never a regular on here ;) Doubt I've even made 100 posts. Nice to see you on here, TAPK. I sent you a TRF message the other day before I realised what went down during my absensce...sorry to read about that.

Gerald, SOMETHING was capable on his day,he handled the all-weather too,7f at Ascot could bring out the best of him particularly if there was big prize money at stake,he always liked to run well when there was a big pot! Just keep your eyes peeled for VICTOIRE DE LYPHAR this year,if he doesn"t turn into a Group race sprinter then i"m not TAPK,he has muscles on muscles this fellow!Cool

Lol, thanks. Not worried by these unbullish comments by Angus? Personally I think he's right, 10 furlongs, bit of cut. I'm an Irish Heartbeat man, on at 16s. Spent 3 minutes looking at the Spring Mile and by looking at the previous 10 Lincoln winners worked out that Kalk Bay is a certainty, n'est pas? On at 6s and an EW double with IH. Who are your Classic fancies bar Seville and Memory?

Luckily had a big look at the 1000 Guineas yesterday, picked out I Love Me as the most interesting, had £25 on at 40s, then read she'd been slashed on the exchanges, then saw she'd gone 25s from 40s with Hills so had another £25 on. Really is ridiculous though how a horse can be absolutely nowhere near his or her true value purely cos Segal's tipped him/her up. I said exactly the same thing he wrote in his Weekender column, Backstage is a 33/1 shot. Looks like being a very hot 1000 but I can't find many potential winners. White Moonstone, Memory (possibly, Hughes reckons she's an Oaks horse), maybe Laughing Lashes and I Love Me. Will watch out for Victoire, cheers. Watch out for Garde Cotiere, very well regarded by Noseda.

Sacred one,i am no fan of FRANKEL and have laid him to 3 figures at 11/10 for the 2000gns, as for him winning the Derby!Laugh.I am a big fan of DREAM AHEAD and think at 16/1 he is way overpriced, obviously he wont want summer ground so its a tough call regarding Ante-Post investments,WOOTTON BASSETT looks a tough colt but i have him down as a Jersey stakes type,i am quite happy having the likes of RODERIC and PATHFORK running for me to turn over the overhyped one! Henry never was one for blowing trumpets over his horses,he got a bit carried with TIMEPIECE last year, she turned into a cheap imitation! MISTY FOR ME is my Oaks filly, keep it to yourself for now though!Cool

Would be an interesting winner. Galileo fillies in the Oaks have been absolutely abysmal. 6 runners, all unplaced, 4 of them finished last or second last. Not a fan of Dubai Prince?

Sacred one,DUBAI PRINCE is obviously a high class colt but SEVILLE impressed me more in that Gowran maiden,i"m not sure he is a Derby type either 11/4m Eclipse sort to me! Whoops Augustine,i do apologise.

Surely the difference between Timepiece and Frankel is that the filly was leaving it all on the gallops whilst Frankel has proved it on the course. In fairness it wasnt only Henry that was hyping Timepiece - she was constantly mentioned by work watchers - who knows she could still develop into something smart this year.

I honestly cant see how any lover of racing can be "no fan of Frankel." you might not think he is going to progress this year but surely there is no knocking what he did last. Whatever your views there is little doubting how visually impressive he was and the excitement he is generating for the coming season. Racing needs horses like this and I would hope that you are in a tiny mean spirited minority!

I have read how some think he was already extremely well developed last year and that others will surely catch him up. This is a perfectly valid argument but maybe they are forgetting that he is already running to a mark that would have won him the last 10 Guineas. We are not talking about a Rainbow View who was running in the 110's and WAS caught up. Very few horses are going to get up to 127 this year and it will not take very much improvement to put him out of reach.

Anyway - not much longer to wait now before the talking can stop.
