There is an ante post race.
It is cancelled/postponed.
The ante post bets on the Pricewise 2 point tip are safely in the magicswine's pockets - so a rescheduled race worth half as much is botched up to be run on a Friday.
Now the Pricewise bets on the day of the race that was postponed, like Soldatino, has dropped like a stone in the betting, so bookies have large liabilities at 11/1 about a horse now trading at around 6/1.
Now because of the reduced prize money, a nu,ber of very well fancied horses get taken out of the race, in fact its now a very different race from the one all the ante post money went down on.
So what do the bookies do?
1. The ante post bets that were placed on the race are to stand - the race is to take place and winners win and losers - well tough shyte matey.
2. The bets after the ante post market ended, where people still had a chance to collect on fancy porices got on the day of the race - all cancelled.
So some bets stand (the ones that are mainly profitable for the bookies) and some are void (the ones that look dicey for the bookies).
Consistency - zero.
Rip off of punters - maximum.
And they wonder why racing is in a mess.

I think the problem lies with the bookies not being regulated correctly the media not tackling them either, they seem to create all the rules to suit them... I feel sorry for the people who bet on Final Approach... they will lose the antepost money... but he did get on to the course on Sat but bookies wont even address that...
There use to be a rule that if there is a Sunday between abandoned races the race was void? Im sure this was the case... But they seem to have thrown away the rule book... I think the race should of been voided... what happened to the interest of the punter? But in terms of the fav Walkon and Soldatino both 6/1 shots now... its a bit of a joke...makes betting laughable... But bookies seem to be a force of their own! |

I agree that it should be regulated better. The same rules should apply to every bookmaker.

There is an old saying before you place your bet check the rules, what ever horse wins the race ante post betters who have bigger prices good luck to them. (They won't be moaning)

Friday would not have been ante post the 48 hour declarations where on Thursday n/r no bet rule 4 applies

As you point out mully, the executive or the
sponsor are not playing fair here, exactly half of the prize money, yet The Tote still are allowed to use their name for the race, somebody is doing the dirty. |

i had £40 win on soldatino at about5pm on friday at nrnb and asked this tues if the bet was stood or void they said it was up to me i have kept the bet but am going to check tomorrow lunchtime as i have not a lot of faith in what a cashier tells me (it is with badblokes) does any one have a similar position or view as all firms seem to have different rules for eg p/p online refunded a £50 bet on same horse and odds within 30mins and i had no say in the matter

Billies, all ante post bets stand, 48 hour declarations Thursday n/r no bet after what happened Saturday and because the race is being run on the same track within 7 days the race reverts back to the original 5 day declarations which, was 24 runners. I would check your £40 bet again

Just look at it now - a poxy 15 runner mess and altogether a different race from the one we backed in ante post.
I know its rules, but funny how they seem to be being applied to suit the bookies very well. |

Doncaster rover - laddies have a message on their screens saying all post-declaration bets are void. Just been in to check. (was also told i had the choice till i asked about what the rule 4 was!)

I wonder if the sponsor contract states a date and timeline, but even so shouldn't the full amount be put up? |

thanks dan will call in tomorow to clear this up its about time the industry used one set of rules that was fair to all, the cashier told me the bet could stand if it lost i would throw the ticket away but if it wins and i go to collect my winnings they will refund my£40 and say the cashier had got it wrong leaves a sour taste in the mouth and this sort of thing is driving away punters in their droves no wonder they are better known as ladcrooks

just come from ladcrooks and guess what the bet is void why could they not tell me that on tuesday the staff have not got a clue and senior management need to get their act together
