Is it a runner?

Off a mark of 147

Unexposed as a staying chaser.

3rd in a Cesarewitch ,2nd in an Arkle, 3rd in a Champion Chase, known as a staying hurdler these days has plenty ability having been mixing it with the likes of Big Bucks over hurdles could actually be well handicapped over fences having never had the oppurtunity to race at staying trips.

300+ on here suggests it might not be a definate runner anyone any the wiser ?

Never been the best of jumpers and he's about 3 foot tall?

Suppose the handicap mark looks well though

Not for me

Fair enough Id like to see it run in a chase again before I bet it, 300 would be big if it was an intended runner

Aye, not like it's a 10/1 shot Silly good luck Happy

Heart of a lion!

Well, with a clear round would have a big chance at the weights
after that performance IMO.Stayed on really well...
Reminds me of Docklands Express ! Small horse with heart of a lion.
I,d keep schooling him between now and the National.

Ran a nice prep there, If he gets into a rhythm he could be hard to pass.
Size is a negative.
Report Tucho February 18, 2011 1:29 PM GMT
he jumped sideways at nearly every fence

The last Shetland Pony to win the National was Team Spirit.

Not a hope in hell.
Report Rondetto February 18, 2011 2:24 PM GMT
Shetland Pony would have more chance than Fair AlongLaughLaugh
Report town moor February 18, 2011 3:03 PM GMT
Seagram wasn't much bigger than a pony but was a much better jumper than fair along, who as said above jumped sideways today. No chance of getting around in the national.

I'll pack the game in and sell all my horses if that wins the national
Report bazzar February 18, 2011 9:28 PM GMT
A dual winner way back in time was named THE LAMB so that horse MUST have been VERY small (as the name suggests)and what must be taken into consideration there used to be 34 obstacles to be jumped, including a wall and the final obstacle which was a hurdle, so it seems that ability and guts are the two greatest requirements.
Report abbott February 18, 2011 9:55 PM GMT
might win the bet365 though
Report Biscar Two from a mile back February 20, 2011 1:22 PM GMT
obv doesnt jump well enough but if it had pinged every fence youd have to take 25-1< and not 300 as a mark of 147 is one it can def. win off
Report Angel Gabrial February 20, 2011 8:11 PM GMT
Connections would be on Watchdog if they risked this gutsy horse in the GN. He is not a natural jumper of fences and never will.

Withdrawn today, sense prevails!

Which National?
Report Howdi March 16, 2011 8:01 PM GMT
this horse never gets credit it deserves - anyone know how many festivals its been placed....
Report Orsoncart March 20, 2011 8:00 AM GMT
A class act and as someone said before the heart of a lion, any horse that grabs fourth like that at Cheltenham from a country mile back has got bottle especially taking his size into account, It was only a couple of years ago that he was placed in the world hurdle behing BB, there are worse outsiders.
Report Bindaree March 21, 2011 5:45 PM GMT
Fair Along has already been withdrawn from the National. Why do you keep talking about him?
