.JUST six weeks after arriving at his new home in Ireland, Australia's horse of the year in waiting, So You Think, has already won a fan in Coolmore's head trainer Aidan O'Brien.
''He's a very impressive, imposing horse with a lovely intelligent head and importantly he seems to have a very relaxed disposition,'' the master trainer told Breeding & Racing's Peter Falconer.
''We had been looking forward to his arrival and we were delighted with him when we saw him,'' O'Brien said. Nurtured in Australia by Bart Cummings, the son of High Chaparral strung together five straight wins in Melbourne last spring, including four group 1s, before finishing third behind the French stayer Americain in the Melbourne Cup. Days later the winner of eight races from 12 starts and $5,734,350 in prizemoney was sold to Coolmore for about $60 million by Dato Tan Chin Nam.
O'Brien trained High Chaparral - an eight-time group 1 winner in England, Ireland and the US - and said there were several similarities between the two.
''High Chaparral was a very athletic horse, very light on his feet,'' O'Brien said. ''He had tremendous quality and great presence also. So You Think certainly looks to have all those attributes. He's a fine, big, good-looking horse and well conformed.
''The race footage from Australia shows him to be a very versatile horse. He appears to have fantastic tactical speed.''
He beat some of the best 7f horses down here and I'd back him to beat Starspangledbanner over 7.
In saying that Aidan seems to talk quite a good deal of ****...

Got a feeling too that they will run him in the World Cup next year....figure thats the main reason why Aidan's sent over horses this year. just to get a feel of what its like and how he'll have to adapt his training for a big early season tilt like that.

also would not be surprised if it could stay on like the mother in law given the right preperation should be remembered that it went from winning the cox plate 2040 metres to melb cup 3200 metres within 10 days

He's a monster. overshadowed those two. Roddy hasnt grown that much over the winter but he's packing plenty of muscle definition he didnt have before. So You Think cruised past both on the run in to win by about a length.
