Bearing in mind he was considered unlucky not to beat Diamond Harry at Newbury last season, he looks a valid Gold Cup outsider to me. Anybody heard anything about what's up with him?

dont know about being unlucky not to beat harry but id say hes a long price because hes not been well at all and hes got a bit to find with dh, never mind the gold cup market leaders

If he comes back he'll be aimed at the Stayers imo

What's been wrong with him?
Report revedesivola December 4, 2010 2:15 PM GMT
travel sickness first and then lots of complications

he got pneumonia i think. personally think if he could jump a bit better hes on a par with diamond harry. needs to go for world hurdle or something this year to protect his mark before winning next years hennessey.

never on a par with harry. when harry beat him harrys jumping was worse than bensalems!

there is not much between them i dont think reve. especially when you look at kings form last year.
Report revedesivola December 4, 2010 8:26 PM GMT
harry beat him over hurdles when kings form was good as ever

fair points reve obv. diamond harry has the edge and has gone on to prove how good he is in the hennessey. i just think talent wise there isn't much between them. diamond harry has always been the better of the two but bensalem with better jumping isn't far behind imo.

yep, wouldnt mind havin him alright, plenty of nice handicaps would suit him on what looks a very fair mark

I think Ben, although receiving weight, would have won at Newbury last season but for (IMO) jockey error at the cross fence.

I totally agree R Carver

Lets hope he comes back MM (this yr or next) - i think he would be a strong o/s player in this yr's GC (have backed him accordingly) - he is a lovely looking horse too. He was arguably a bit unlucky at Haydock (half-lengthed possibly) though not saying he owuld have won, at the Festival whe falling when cantering and in Ireland when facing trafic trouble. GL MM.

Oh don't remind me of the festival. I thought he was a cert. One of my biggest bets at the 2010 festival Cry.
