PUNTERS accustomed to consulting one of the gambling industry's leading price-comparison websites before placing a bet have suffered a setback following the withdrawal of one of Britain's major bookmakers.
While Ladbrokes says its decision not to be included on Oddschecker.com is for an unspecified trial period, the company needs convincing that inclusion on the site can bring material benefits to the business.
Ladbrokes spokesman, Ciaran O'Brien, said: "We haven't necessarily pulled out, but we have come down from Oddschecker. We are assessing the value it gives us really so we are trialling a period without it, and then we'll make an assessment, and take it from there.
"It won't necessarily be a permanent move, but we just felt that perhaps it wasn't delivering the value that we might want from it."
O'Brien added: "There is no set time for the trial, but it will be a number of weeks to enable us to get a proper judgement on it."

Well it makes sense given that they are nrnb on the Championship races but are the shortest odds for those races as a result. So people might be turned off by the odds when seen them in comparison to other firms.

It's not hard really is it; go to oddschecker, then go to ladbrokes.com and compare the prices! Any serious punter would have no gripes about doing this surely!?

Isn't the point that their prices generally aren't that competitive, so when compared they look like they don't offer much value. If you're not picking up business through the site then being there is probably more damaging. A bit like Norwich Union in the insurance market, they know they aren't the cheapest!!!

Has anyone else noticed how slow the oddschecker site has become since they started advertising it on tv. Nowhere near as quick to bring up markets as it was perhaps they need to increase performance to match the increased visits now?
