Amazing horsie imo...but...

Why is he in the King George and Arc markets and more importantly why is he so fkin short!!!

8/1 for the KG???? For reals? 10/1 Arc?

I thought his two Cox Plate wins were just simply brilliant....I'd try and snaffle a few races at that distance over here...Prince of Wales...International Stakes, Irish Champion. But guess they know better.

He is the highest rated Australasian horse at 2 miles.  That makes him the Australasian champion 2 miler.  Simples.

Yeah, but he was running in a handicap, carrying weight.

He's got a higher rating for that than for either Cox Plate or the Yalumba etc, so it can be argued that he is better at 3200m than at 2000m. Mischief

Has this horse be purchased by COOLMORE and currently in IRELAND?

I caught the backend of an interview on ATR.

All i heard was...SO You Think, Ballydoyle and quarantine

Well the answer is yes.

Arrives at Aidan's just before Christmas.

Well given the way he improved and ironed out the chinks in both
Haradasun and StarSpangledBanner you have to reckon this fella
might sensational...he's finally got a top notcher ready to roll.

Legendary trainer Bart Cummings is reportedly devastated after discovering his superstar four-year-old So You Think has been sold to racing powerhouse Coolmore Stud, set to head overseas to race in Europe.

The son of High Chaparral captured the hearts of Australian racing fans this season, becoming the youngest horse in history to win back to back Cox Plates before a finishing a gallant third in the Melbourne Cup at just his 12th career start last Tuesday.

Owner of So You Think and long term friend of Cummings, Dato Tan Chin Nam is now under fire after keeping Cummings and others in the dark over his sale of the $5.7 million earner to international breeding and racing giant Coolmore Stud.

The move has enraged the Australian racing industry, the reported $60 million sale already tagged as a ‘national tragedy’.

So You Think is unlikely to ever grace the Australian turf again, with a European racing career starting early next year already in the works.

“So You Think’s best days were ahead of him, he was potentially the best horse I’ve ever trained – probably was the best – but he won’t get the chance to prove in now, not for me anyway,” said a sad Cummings.

The extraordinary racing achievements of So You Think speak for themselves, the champion galloper having won eight of his 12 career starts for $5,734,350 in prize money.

Irish trainer Aidan O’Brien, Coolmore’s leading trainer, is set to take over the preparation of So You Think.

Coolmore have already named next year’s Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe in France as a target for So You Think.

I really think this horse could go right to the top over here though...Would be great seeing So You Think run in the Arc.

This horse has such a high cruising speed, with a serious turn of foot at the business end of his races regardless of trip or ground. He is also very tough and thrives on his races so if he were mine i would campaign him as follows. Prince of Wales Stakes, Eclipse, King George, International at York, Irish Champion Stakes, Arc and finally Breeders cup Classic. If that were to be his campaign i'd be surprised if he couldnt capture 4 or 5 of these races, although im sure that Sir Michael Stoute (workforce), Sir Henry (Frankel,Midday) and Ed Dunlop (Snow Fairy)might have something to say about that.

Hi Mooono, what was the date of that report?  I'm slightly confused, as it was anounced at about the same time as the sale that the horse would be coming over to Ireland, so i don't understand all the hoo-hah, if it was belated.

Hi me2 the date of that report was the 4th November so it is over a month old now..This thread was the first i knew of the horse being sold though so its new news to me..I was strongly considering going to the Arc next year and if this fella is heading there it gives me even more reason to go..Great news..

High Chapparal though....They could go the BC Turf route with him rather than the Classic.

Think this fella might have a quiet season....couple races like his dad then the Arc and Breeders Cup.

Irish Champion, Prix Foy then Arc and Breeders Cup.

He's a superstar unlike his Haradasun and SSB so no need to go mental chasing group1s...just take your time and get him ready for the one they want to win!

I'll do it nicely, before someone does it rudely.  Can't do both Irish Champion and Prix Foy.  One or the other, and it will be the Irish one.Love

Aussie sprinters are second to none.
But not had a middle distance champion for decades have they?
Last I can think of from that part of the world was Balmerino (New Zealand?), and he never quite cut the mustard at European Group 1 level.
60 m aussie dollars? Think they been sold a dud at the price and only long term value will be to send back down under to Coolmore's Australian breeding farms.

Serious horse from what I've seen of him. As Me2 says best 2 miler to have run in Australia technically but didn't actually stay. Shows he's all class. Not sure about a good turn of foot though, think he's more a gallopper myself.

To be honest, I think most of our good 1m4f horhes in Europe would beat our best stayers over 2miles. For example, I tghink Youmzain is a horsew that would have cleaned up in Cup races.

Yeah but the owners didn't want to run him over those trips.

I'm not using the Melbourne Cup as a genuine line for his quality, as I said he completely failed to get home. Back in trip you'll be shocked just how good he actually is.

This horse will be outstanding next season. Over 10 furlongs, his stablemate Cape Blanco will be his only threat.

not sure Tav but I know one of the horses from that race at Flemington with Hay List and BlackC will be comming over...Melito.

going for races against her own sex....Falmouth would be a target.

Don't laugh, but I think Canford Cliffs will take a 10 furlong group 1 next season.

In his second Cox Plate he breaks 11 sec from the 600 to the 400. Thats explosive.

Interesting comparisons that can be made. Elvstroem left Aus with a timeform rating of just 123. He ran to that to win the Dubai Duty Free and then ran to 121 in Europe when well held by Valixr, Azamour Rakti etc.

Haradasun was 126 when he went to Ballydoyle and ran 126 to win the Queen Anne and Starcraft was 124 in Aus before going 128 in Europe.

So You Think is 133 in Aus and the figures over the years have stood up pretty well, if anything Aidan should improve him, he took Starspangledbanner to 128 from 126 in Aus.

That puts him in the top company. I'd reckon Prince of Wales is at his mercy as he won't see any of the 3yo's there and then its on to take on the Frankel's and co in races like the Eclipse, International and Irish Champion.

Then an over the top run in the Arc, compltely burnt out crack at the Breeders before they send whats left of him (very little usually) to Hong Kong for a ridiculous crack at that...

Big O...I think they will wait with him...no need to go group1 chasing. He doesnt need too.

Hang onto him for the summer then start him off in something like the International up at York.

They've used that race in the past to bring a lot of their top horses back from breaks ie Dylan Thomas.

Would love to see him run at the Breeders Cup in the Turf. His dad won it twice back to back and if its as weak as this years then its easy pickings and a chance to boost his US stud profile.

I think Dylan Thomas had 5 runs prior to York as a 4yo, but you could be right they may want to have him firing later in the season.

I would have thought he would be very likely to make an appearance at Royal Ascot though I suppose that would depend on how he settles in.

Fairly bloody freezing up there at the moment from what I can gather and thats going to be something new to him.

I would be surprised if they ran him in the Breeders Cup Turf rather than the Classic.
Coolmore have always wanted to win the Classic and victory in the race would
significantly increase the stud value of both SYT & HC.

Probably depends on what he has on the C.V by then.

If he has won a couple of good races they may as well have a throw at the classic, if he has been a disappointment they will probably try and take the likely easier option in the turf.
