Paddy Power Gold Cup - Selection CATCH ME off a mark of 143 has to be a solid bet considering he was racing to a mark of 160 over hurdles. 3rd behind Pandorama and Weapons Amnesty in Ireland the latter winning the Royal And Sun Alliance chase last year at cheltenham. Easily capable of running to a simular mark over fences so potentially 17lb well in. Edward O'Grady won this last year with Tranquil Sea and i can see him making it back to back Paddy Power Gold Cups. Dangers obviously Long Run but i'd be worried about Hendersons horses first time out this season. Tchico Polos could be the dark horse at a price along with the twister sending out Pigeon Island out of the handicap but has done most of his racing around Cheltenham.
Greatwood Handicap Hurdle - Selection Sure Josie Sure not a horse that springs straight to mind but in a race like this you want to be on a horse that is potentially much better than its mark. Could be thrown in off 127 form being franked with Nearby winning a competitive event recently. Wants cut in the ground and looks likely to get it. Its the only horse David Pipe has left in the race which makes you think this could be a job. Obvious dangers include the 5 decent novices from last season but their form is so tied in bar Sanctuaire, its hard to choose one from the other. So I'l take a chance that Sure Josie Sure could prove to be well in and make a mockery out of her 127 mark.
Just a couple of points, the form with nearby from last season is not as plain as it seems. Hobbs said Nerby was impossible to get fit last season and is a different horse this season. So a 2 1/2l beating of Nerby at Perth may not be the form you think it is.
Same goes for Catch Me, Pando was certainly not fully fit at Leopardstown, WA needs Good Ground and loves Cheltenham. Catch Me was not featuring until outstaying both China Rock and Lenebane to grab 3rd. So a deeper inspection of that form, imo does not hold up either, also on Saturday it'll be 2m4f on good to soft.
Anwyay good luck with the bet, I may be wrong, i've gone for a poquelin miller double.
