He cant keep them sweet long term like a Nicholls. They seem to sour and have enough. Just my opinion

And a very shrewd opinion that won't have people reading your thread chuckling to themselves and calling you a c0ck.

Voy Por Ustedes was a force at the top level for 5 seasons.
That seems pretty long term to me.

A valid question, I don't know, but it is a possibility. Something is wrong anyway, though he seems to be turning the corner slightly.

tbh, im starting to wish I hadn't backed Manyriverstocross for the Greatwood.

I think he needs to have a big season this year as a lot of his horses semm to be letting him down or vice versa.

Everytime I see him on a racecourse he always seems to be having a drink.

To be fair i would be drinking heavily if my horses were running so badly for the last 2 years!! [:o]

Having a drink!
Best rule out Fulke Walwyn and Nicky Henderson, then, as trainers, too.
One poorish season, and the vultures circle. Most of his horses are needing a run, but since when do you judge a trainer's season in early November? He's having a steady stream of winners, and loads of places. I imagine he'll have a good season, but, although he has a lot of horses, he has nothing like the firepower of Nicholls, Henderson and O'Neill in terms of big owners with bottomless pockets. A fine trainer, with honesty and integrity, and great fun to have a drink with at the races.

correct me if im wrong but im sure i read somewhere that his horse were struggling last year due to the feed they were on.

agree with the above, cant have good seasons every year.

as for the drink i think they pretty much all enjoy it apart from the odd one or two, and in those cases henderson makes up for them.

If having a drink was the mark of a bad trainer Richard Hannon would have never trained a winner !

Running horses 'needing a run' suggests a lack of confidence. He wants to see his 90% fit charge win so the future is bright. Reality is they don't win so the future is unsure. The master trainers don't play these games .. they face reality and have the confidence to go to war on day 1. Dave's Dream for example. Needs to drink more not less.
