Exceptionally good jockey imo .. not sure how many winners he rode, at least 4, but thought he was top class!

In all the post mortems after the Classic, his ride on Blame has been ignored. Got the fractions just right and timed his finishing run to perfection, a half second later and he wouldn't have got the split inside Lookin At Lucky at the top of the stretch

People are focusing too much about what happened in the first 2f. A big mistake for me was smith pushing her up to close to the back horse in the 2nd qtr, using uneven fractions, but really what won blame the race was the lovely trip gomez got turning for home, while zenyetta was forced to take a pull, switch to the outside. If mike smith goes wide and attacks the home turn, keeping up the momentum, she wins.

Im not just talking about his ride on Blame. He rode several others winners including on the undercard. He seemed to get the fractions, tactics, and positioning right everytime.

He was the best rider over the 2 days by a mile.

Totally agree, the guy is in a different league to everyone else.

I try to follow the big international meetings where I can and certainly don't think there's better anywhere else in the world. And that includes his fellow American jocks like Velazquez, Bejarano and Prado, the Irish like Fallon and Murtagh, Moore in the UK, the Belgian Soumillon, Lemaire, Peslier and Pasquier in France. The best in South Africa, Striker, Australia, Olly and Japan, Take, don't even compare.

Gomez, a class apart!
