wants chance to seal Kauto Star place as best since Arkle and deserves a massive round of applause. I cant understand these people who are cribbing them for wanting to run. Sometimes horse racing is not all about betting and in these times Racing needs to do everything it can to put itself on the map

What happens if hes declared however due to not quite right in his blood/stone bruise/scoped dirty etc he doesnt run will the weights go up for Denman?
Or will it leave Denman theoretically a further 8lb well in? |

Kauto Star was upgraded to official rating of 193 from 186 after winning King George last year, a rating which thought was madness at the time as there was a lot of evidence that the horse did not improve to win that race. In fact, had put up better performance time-wise in a previous year.
Rating since downgraded to 190. If he runs at Newbury in soft ground, pretty sure he would find a few too good having to concede 2 stone to so many of the other runners, even if they were out of the handicap. Doesn't mean he's not the best horse by far, just that the handicap system is flawed in terms of the official ratings awarded. |
