.please you guys are really why bookies make so much
people taking short odds about the Classics 6 months before the races are another reason the bookies do ok [;)] |

To be fair tobermory I don't think many people would advocate backing the horse now for the guineas even if they're big Frankel fans. Some horses don't need backing with money to appreciate them, Frankel is one of them in my opinion. There are plenty of other profit making races in the season.

Well said Grendel..

Sort of agree with that. Frankel at 5/4 top price would not be value or not much. However I do think he'll win the guineas, and if allowed he'll win the derby too.

Can you clarify who 'you guys' are, because i don't remember saying anything bad about Frankel.
|
|
By:
He is exceptional the like of we see v rarely, just hoping HRAC allows him to run in the Derby so the horse can go down in history as an all-time great rather than just a specialist miler.
His price is irrelevant now frankly as most are on at far better, not much point in picking at the scraps now. |

its not you then Graeme83....

I think backing frankel juts now makes little sense. he will vary a bit throughout the winter and may start to shorten as the trial approaches, but if he trots up as seems very likel]y indeed in the Greenham, he could be very short indeed come gGuineas day and 6/4 would not look so silly then would it.

By:
Who the heck wants to wait 7 months at that price when you can pick an established horse at that price this weekend or at the Breeders Cup ?.... i can see how something like 7/2 might tempt some folk, but not that price i'm afraid.

i watch the king george in my local club every boxing day.every year the same people come up to me and say kautos no chance ive backed such and such.they cant give any logical reason they just know kauto wont win.what they really mean is i cant afford to back kauto at evens so i,ll have my £2 on such and such.thats why these people will be knocking frankel all winter
|
|
By:
^^^^ there's another one making up rubbish. Nobody is knocking the horse. I and some others are pointing out that the price is pointless, which it is. Why take short odds in a race that is 7 months away when you can back a 6/4 short tomorrow ?
|
|
By:
Love Frankel to bits.... but 6/4 would be tight about any horse going through the winter in one piece and training on.... let alone winning the Guineas.
So agree, crazy bet. If you can't find another decent 6/4 bet between now and then, probably need to give up? |
|
By:
Exactly Bob. I want the horse to be great as like everyone else i like to see a good horse - it's a part of the reason we watch racing. However i think too many people around here want to win on a horse as if there's a prize for backing a specific 6/4 shot instead of a 6/4 at Sandown for example. If you didn't take the big prices( like i didn't) you're on to plums and should look somewhere else for 'value'.
