Master of Hounds
This looks interesting at the prices. Was hot fav to beat Roderick O Connor and only just beaten by D Express. AOB has a cracking record in this race. |

Anyone know what the ground is likely to be? Fancy Dunboyne Express, Coral 4/1
|
|
By:
That's my thinking El Apache. Would like him to be 100% running though ideally
|
|
By:
I'd have to be against Dunboyne Express in this race. Kevin Prendergast hasn't won a Group 1 in England since 1977 when Nebbiolo won the Guineas.
The going is expected to be good to soft which should suit Casamento. He has the form in the book and Frankie on board. I think his biggest danger is the untested Sevile. |

87Blade .. as I look out (bit early) it looks to have been a dry night and I think the ground should be around pretty good. I am not very far away and can see the grandstand. Town Moor gives the best weather updates. Course as usual looks a picture. Is really cold though.

titus mills looks like a really professional little horse, but strong too.
was quite impressed with his debut win. has been given plenty of time between races and imv this is a bonus. rate him a 7/1 shot. also interested in the above mentioned master of hounds at the price. 3/1 the field ; casamento has nice form. |
|

Seville for me.
Second on it's debut (first 3 pulled 14l clear) the 3rd obligation (another o'brien horse) won well NTO,and though seville only won a 4 runner race NTO,he beat a reliable enough 98 rated horse easily enough, A son of galileo the doncaster mile should suit well, already shorter than any of saturdays rivals for the derby (also his debut conquerer)i'm hoping he'll improve again. Decent 5/1 chance imo. |
|
By:
I'll wait to see how many O'Brien declares. If he sends 3 then I'll look beyond Ballydoyle probably Casamento.

GOOD RACE BUT NO OUTSTANDING HORSE IN FIELD CASAMENTO PROVEN OVER TRIP LOOKS GOOD HOWEVER I FEEL HIS LAST RACE PROVED NOTHING AND HE WILL BE TESTED HERE...DUNBOYNE EXPRESS BIG THREAT BUT IM NOT CONVINCED 1MILE WILL BE HIS BEST TRIP ..BUT THE HORSE WHO IS FRESHEST AND WON WELL LAST TIME WAS SEVILLE HE LOOKS TO HAVE THE CLASS TO WIN THIS AS CASAMENTO HAS LOST ALSO SO HES NOT OUTSTANDING ITS NOT A GREAT RENEWAL
1ST..SEVILLE 2ND..MASTER OF HOUNDS 3RD..DUNBOYNE EXPRESS |
|
By:
Toolain got no luck in running last time out won a good class 1 race and step up in trip could very well find improvement on the likely going value to place if its a definate runner.

I think Master of Hounds is an e/w steal at 14/1 with Ladbrokes. Not sure why this horse is such a large price compared to Dunboyne Express, as when the pair met at Leop over 7f there was nothing between the two at the finish. Dunboyne has sinced hacked up 6f at Curr on Soft ground and showed no signs of stopping, however Master of Hounds also slaughtered a field last time at Tipp over 7.5f to win very comfortably. That was in a fast time of 1m 33secs, so I'm confident that 1m will be ideal at Donny and looking at it's leg action, it will suit any cut in the ground. If Murtagh decides to ride this one, then the price will inevitably tumble.

I think Karam Albaari is being slightly overlooked. This probably down to his 'unfashionable' trainer more than anything else. He ran a good race behind Saamid in the Champagne Stakes, staying on well at the death ,suggesting that the extra furlong would bring about further improvement. I've no doubt that if he were trained by the one of the bigger yards he'd be much shorter and given that it hardly looks a vintage renewal, the 33's currently on offer looks very appealing.

Halford, Jenkins , Prendergast K
Not exactly Group 1 winners in GB. Leave it to Ballydoyle. |
|
By:
Casa looks a worthy fav to me and will be tought to beat. Master of Hounds the most interesting of the AOB runner though im not sure he wants it soft
|
|
By:
Good race, got Dunboyne Express 6-9lbs clear of Casamento, Seville and Native Khan.
Must be a doubt about him staying on breeding though? |
|
By:
Just a thought. if you was Halford would you want your star to win the RP Trophy then get carted off to Godolphin .
I certainly wouldnt & would be running it short of peak. |
|
By:
Pretty sure it would go to Godolphin whatever it does on Saturday. May as well go for the prize money and a Group 1 win
|
|
By:
see what your saying Geoff but I suspect if the trainer was able to win the race with this horse he'd get given more horses in the future .. it works both ways really, imo.
Titus Mills has been cut today on the back of Meehans comments. I actually thought his last run was better than it looked given he had to do the donkey work, so agree with what the trainer said. 12/1 into 8/1 now. |

Master of Hounds price crash.. 14 to 8 in the last hour or two
|
|
By:
Going through the past 28 years.
Two maidens (both placed on only run) won but generally we are seeking a horse that has won over 7f or 8f. For that reason I am against Karim Albaari as the winner. I am aware it has been well backed at 40's, probably due to a tipping line (Workwatcher) who put this up as e/w bet on Monday. Casamento, Native Khan and Titus Mills came out best on stats. |

Sun is shining and not particularly warm however it's (as they say) a lovely day.

"We will be declaring both Seville and Master Of Hounds in the morning for the Racing Post Trophy on Saturday and it is possible, depending on how they get on, that one of them might go for the Juvenile Turf."
|
|
By:
Working on the assumption that the Dewhurst form is strong I'll take Master of Hounds for this based on his 2nd to Roderic in June. Hasn't run since July and may well have improved bundles.
