Frankel explosive in final serious Dewhurst work

^ surely there aren't still silly people out there who think he might actually get beat in the dewhurst?

i'm as excited as i can be about this dewhurst. not because i believe it to be a competitive contest but because i believe that after the race we'll be hailing a true superstar in the shape of FRANKEL

in fact i fully expect to be running up the rowley mile naked if he doesn't oblige

the presence of only 6 runners must surely play straight into frankels hands.

with no real pace garaunteed we've already seen how explosive he is off a slow gallop.

the maiden he won was run in driving rain and it was his debut. very few horses if any in the history of racing would have won that race by very far on their debuts.

I really hope, and in fact expect that we'll see something special from frankel in the dewhurst. I really do.

saturday we'll see something very special indeed from frankel. in years to come we'll all be talking in hushed tones the day we saw THAT performance.

and now...

2.25 DEWHURST STAKES

the two year old race of the season... although I was intially keen on frankel, who looked so brilliant in the royal lodge and reports of his gallop work have been enticing to say the least,  I feel frankie may again upset both of the two favourites with SAAMIDD. i've just had another look at his maiden victory, which came at newbury on august 13th. frankie puts him in the race very easily and he takes off in the final two furlongs like theres a rocket up his bum.

he wasn't quite as impressive at doncaster, but he got the job done just the same. he might be the real miler amongst these. i've always felt at the back of my mind, that any horse by galileo, as frankel is, is vunreable to a pure miler. sure galileo gets plenty of horse's effective at shorter distances, but what sticks in my mind is the resolute galloper new approach being overhauled by henry the navigator in the guineas, and rip van winkle getting beat in this race (whose dam was a sprinter like frankel's was.)

Saamidd is just pure speed, and might just run them down in the final stages. Dream ahead is a horse who i've always liked but there must be a doubt about his effectiveness on quicker ground; he's also been turned out quickly after the middle park so gives the impression that it might be an afterthought.

i'll be surprised if any of the others are good enough given the standard set by the front three in the market.

Selection : back saamid win and place

net results of Saamidd's 11 Newbury victims since:
17 collective starts
WINS = 0
2nds = 3
3rds = 2

2nd Yair Hill flattered by a mark of 82
3rd Buckland beaten 4 lengths into 6th last week of a mark of 81

The 2nd Yair Hill got nearly as far at Goodwood next time by Vanguard Dream (winner of cl2 nursery off 89)

At Doncaster, Saamidd had Karam Albaari 3 lengths back in 4th. Karam Albaari nothing more than a mid 80's horse.

Mythical Prince, used to be indecisive, now he's not so sure.Laugh  At least if Sammidd wins, he can claim he nearly backed the winner.

I've heard all this before:  Mythical Price was supposed to run naked up Cleave Hill, and never did, despite being proved wrong about a horse who subsequently won at Cheltenham.  And there was that thing about running naked through the Royal Enclosure at Royal Ascot:  Never happened.  And, if I remember correctly, he was supposed to run naked along the Champs Elysees (in front of Princess Zahra Aga Khan), if Zarkava won the Arc.
Can we expect the Full Monty if Frankel gets beaten today?

I DID make up the one about zarkava.  I couldn't resist it...sorry mate.

Actually, I do remember you fancying Zarkava for the Arc.  Well done there.  I think it was Charlton who was against her. But he does't seem to be around anymore.  (I was banned for nearly 2 years for making comments about a jockey, who I can't now name. And then I left Betfair altogether for a while.)

As I have been furiously laying Frankel for the Guineas, it is now going to be another long cold winter for me.  Same as last year (SNA) and the year before that...Here we go again. Sad

Zarkava for the Arc - talk about sticking your neck out. As for Chorlton all he did was abuse posters surprising he lasted as long as he did.

Sir - would you care to share your overall view on the Dewhurst for me pls.  Picked up snippets from different threads and keen as always to hear how you see it.

For me DA is a sprinter; Frankel is overrated (to date) and Saamidd a lovely colt who picked up some good 6f horses effortlessly and so gets my vote so far.
