a tricky contest, i'll nominate DELEGATOR as he seems a specialist 7 furlong horse. frankie is riding out of his skin and seems on a crest of a wave, and similarly godolphin are in fine form.
2.25 DEWHURST STAKES
the two year old race of the season... although I was intially keen on frankel, who looked so brilliant in the royal lodge and reports of his gallop work have been enticing to say the least, I feel frankie may again upset both of the two favourites with SAAMIDD. i've just had another look at his maiden victory, which came at newbury on august 13th. frankie puts him in the race very easily and he takes off in the final two furlongs like theres a rocket up his bum.
he wasn't quite as impressive at doncaster, but he got the job done just the same. he might be the real miler amongst these. i've always felt at the back of my mind, that any horse by galileo, as frankel is, is vunreable to a pure miler. sure galileo gets plenty of horse's effective at shorter distances, but what sticks in my mind is the resolute galloper new approach being overhauled by henry the navigator in the guineas, and rip van winkle getting beat in this race (whose dam was a sprinter like frankel's was.)
Saamidd is just pure speed, and might just run them down in the final stages. Dream ahead is a horse who i've always liked but there must be a doubt about his effectiveness on quicker ground; he's also been turned out quickly after the middle park so gives the impression that it might be an afterthought.
i'll be surprised if any of the others are good enough given the standard set by the front three in the market.
Selection : back saamid win and place
lay dream ahead win and place
CHAMPION STAKES
this looks just as tricky. My selection would be AWAIT THE DAWN, as he has come in under the radar. I don't like twice over as much this year as he seems to have been on the go all year. poet's voice is interesting, but although aiden o brien has yet to win this race, you could have said the same about michael stoute before the arc.
None of the french horse's have much confidence behind them and i'll be surprised if they are good enough. the fallon horse seems better on an artificial surface.
I'll do some quick glance selections. There looks to be some decent prices around for tomorrow.
150 - Delegator 9/4
225 - Roderic O Connor 25/1 e/w
300 - Sri Putra 33/1 e/w
340 - Cosmic Sun 50/1 e/w
415 - date with destiny 9/1
450 - Crystal Capella 6/1
525 - Akmal 10/1

The only bet i'm having i should state is Roderic OConnor at 37/1....i still like Date with Destiny and feel she has been underated because of the conditions she encountered. I also think Sri Putra is a big price, and hopefully the blinkers do the trick.

MP you have definitely changed your tune, I thought you were a fully paid up member of the Frankel fan club.
Your gonna be sorry....
One bet for me tomorrow, Rumoush in the Pride Stakes. Has had a light season, comes here on the back of a good run at Doncaster when travelling like the best horse in the race for most of the way before ultimately being oustayed in the last furlong. Back to what looks like being her optimum trip, I think it will be difficult to keep her out of the frame here.

The two I like the look of in the Rockfel (4.15) are Date With Destiny and Cochabamba. The former was unsuited by the softish ground at Goodwood, has been working very well and is worth another chance. The latter was disappointing last time in the Oh So Sharp Stakes (where she was drawn wide and felt the full force of the strong wind) but had previously finished ahead of Cape Dollar at Goodwood, yet she can be backed at 12/1, while Stoute's filly is less than half those odds.

13.50 Dream Eater - arguably at his best over the trip of 7f and Balding has had a few winners lately. Delegator sets the standard but DE looks a solid e/w alternative
14.25 Roderic O'Connor - mentioned by a couple on here and the form of his maiden win has worked out pretty well. It's not often you get a useful APOB horse going off at such a big price in a race like this, and the trainer remains in fine form
15.00 Glass Harmonium - A few of these have hard hard seasons and alternative targets whereas GH has been lightly raced. The proverbial e/w bet to nothing imo
15.40 Sentry Duty and La Vecchia Scuola - SD has an impressive record fresh and this looks a long term plot job. Well drawn and a classy hurdles performer, should have a big say in this
La Vecchia Scuola another I believe has been well plotted. Ran an eycatcher behind Precision Break at Doncaster doing his best work at the finish. Should relish the step back up in trip. Trainer form a slight negative for me however.
Cheltenham 15.15 Barizan - Heartbreaking defeat in the Triumph last season but he looks as tough as old boots and should be classy enough to beat these. Quotes of around 2/1 look very generous
Nothing else at Chelts stands out although i'm currently trying to get my head around the 14.40 [smiley:crazy]

can't see it fft. think he'll make the pace and probably try to slip the field but frankel and co will have the gears to pick him up easily. I just don't think aiden's got any 2 years olds. but gl can't cost much at those sort of prices.

Delegator has a few queries. When was last time a single run in current season win Challenge? Certainly not in last 28 yrs.
When was last time a 4yo who ran in Guineas win? Same answer.
The three winners who won the race with just a listed win in current season were all 5yo's.
Not saying it won't win but....

Date with Destuny & Cape Dollar for me also, dont think either of them enjoyed the soft ground lto.
Stoute not had a winner since Workforce fyi ..
also had Dream Eater as the EW selection against Delegator, was given a lot to do lto in Turkey.

Ex Con - Haven't spoke to you recently, but your horse has been awesome this summer, remember us speaking and saying he would win a few! Hopefully he can continue over the winter (although guess he needs good ground).
My bets today are
Shakespearean, Vision D'Tat, Sentry Duty + La Vecch at Newmarket
Private Be, Royal Mix and Scampi Boy at Cheltenham.
Also like Fathom Five at Catterick.
gl lads.

Well done, sint. I was on Cochabamba and about 50 yards from the finish I was convinced she was going to win, until Moore managed to get a bit extra from the winner.

least i actually have my own opinion. which is more than can be said for your own sheep like self [;)]
funny i don't recall you being all over my thread the other week which tipped up a 25-1 winner at ayr, majestic dubawi. have you ever tipped up or backed a 25-1 winner? i doubt it personally, unless you had mordin to hold your hand.
do you do your own speed ratings? or do you just copy off everyone else? you kind of remind me of that child at school who copied everyone else's work, because he lacks the imagination and intelligence to do any himself.
btw i found your attempts to ask figgis for his opinion quite pathetic, (perhaps the fact that mordin didn't do a write up on the middle park led to your confusion and desperation) mainly because when you offered your own opinion it was really so very poor.
off to your hole for you. [;)]
