Was visually very impressive

managed a few pennies at 40's
don't ever remember backing a winner antepost though ![]() |

Nice one, something to take into the winter
|

Top class filly imo.
May need give in the ground but on breeding that shouldn't be the case. A mile will be no problem. You have a good bet. |

Nice one pedro.
Was visually impressive again! Beat some decent maiden winners too. |

She's not terribly big, so there must be a slight worry that she won't train on.

just one more race jamesp, doesn't Gosden call the Guineas the last 2yo race?
She didn't debut until Oct, so hopefully can't be considered an early sort. Never know, might be even better on faster ground ![]() |

time was very slow yesterday, esp for a listed. Not sure form will amount to much

i liked her effort very much myself. 40/1 was a steal - well done.

The form looks relatively easy to assess, if one accepts that Sweetie Time (3rd) and Winter's Night (6th) ran to something like their official marks of 90 and 83 respectively. I would tentatively use 2½ pounds per length over 7 furlongs on soft ground, which gives Zoowraa a rating of about 101-102. A very good performance on just her second start, but the Radley Stakes hardly ever has a bearing on the Guineas. If you've already backed her at big prices, all well and good, otherwise there seems no point in taking the widely available 16/1 at this stage.

Would even say 102 is excessive on my time figure for Sat, jamesp, and you would be right about the Radley as a future guide to the Guineas too.
Gave her a massive rating for a debutante filly when winning at Redcar, hence the interest. Know it sounds odd, but will just have to hope that race is more indicative of her ability than Sat unless they went very slow early on at Newbury, which didn't think the case. |

Pedrobob, sidetracking from the filly, what did you make of Carlton House's win? Newbury was a bit tricky because of the rain getting into the ground but I rate it an even faster performance than the RPT over at Doncaster.
|
|
By:
Agree Newbury was very difficult to rate, but adjusting for the Figgis factor
, I rated Carlton House equivalent of a 108 horse (had the 3rd, 4th and 6th running broadly to their expected ratings)This compared to 125 for Casamento on Doncaster in what think was a decent Racing Post Trophy. Sounds like we might be at odds there then? How did you rate them? |
|
By:
Pedrobob, I agree that it was a decent RPT, not spectacular but solid form from a time angle. I have Carlton House's figure 5lbs higher. I reckon the rain had really got into the ground by the time of Zoowraa's race and was even softer for the final 2 races. In fact, although it may sound strange ,he ran a bit faster than I'd have liked at this stage. There have been a few recent Derby winners that ran big figures as 2yos, Motivator, Authorized and New Approach, but they've been the exceptions long term. I prefer horses that haven't done quite as much at 2. The RPT form was more the kind of level I look for.

The Racing Post handicapper Simon Turner has given Zoowraa a rating of 101 for the Newbury performance, but the Topspeed figure is quite poor (67), reflecting the moderate winning time.

you weren't wrong with your initial assessment jamesp, well short of Classic form.

i think you guys are under estimating this filly, just because of the time of the race, i think it beat some pretty useful horses comfortably, looks sure to improve. cheers.
