everytime someone talks about this years arc, we get the same arguments, that it's wide open etc.
most of the market leaders keep beating each other. bekhabad, planteur, lope de vega. I can't get inspired by any of them however many times i watch replays of the prix niel etc. and not to mention they were really racing a long way out there- is that really ideal preparation for an arc?
Can't have fame and glory on my mind at all- just don't rate the horse. If he wins i'll hold my hands up and say too good but can't see it happening. Youmzain- an old dog, amazed that he's still racing. sarafina? not in the zarkava class.
nakyama festa or however u spell it- if that wins an arc i'll give up the game.
then you come to one of the few horses who has impressed me all season- cape blanco. the way he lead all the way in the irish champion was devastatingly impressive. ok he finished very tired there- so there has to be a doubt about him staying the trip- but if he can power into the lead in the straight the overhyped and slow french horses are going to have a problem running him down. and aiden is the master trainer- so if anyone can train him to win the arc he can.
the only other horse I would give a chance to is workforce. Ok so he ran bad in the king george- but we can all have one bad run. he pulled too hard there and never looked too happy. But again, when I look at this field, only two horses have put up a perfomance that have impressed me this year- workforce and cape blanco.
if something else wins they'll probably all finish in a heap- but those two are the only two capable of putting a stamp on the race.
I basically agree with MP. Planteur, LDV and Bekhabad may all finish in a heap, and whilst I wouldn't want to take a short price about him beating the other two, likewise I wouldn't want to back any of them to reverse it. CP and Workforce - I backed the Stoute horse in the Derby, but you'd need a big heart to back him here after an appalling run in what looks to be very deep ground. Crack a beer, ,make it a no bet race, and enjoy.

Agree I can't have Bekhabad, Planteur or Lope de Vega - they were raced hard in the summer and that will take it's toll IMO an dthey look moderate anyway. The only 3 year old colt I can see winning is Cape Blanco - but as someone pointed out on another thread Ballydoyle horses of that age have an incredibly poor Group 1 record at the end of the season. Given the state of the ground it could come down to a slog with something like Duncan prevailing - but my wallet hopes that Sarafina will be held up, wait for them to tire and skip past them twinkle-toed

many have beaten each other over various distances. Cape has beaten work force, behkabad beaten planteur, both beaten by lope de vega @ 22/1 .
The French form is really hard to place with English this year.
Youm for me guys, people call him a dog. people call him crap.
Cape Blanco won stay on ground, Workforce derby hasnt been franked, people just bum the time. Behkabad and Planteur will finish near each other, where I dont know.
If you then look at the field , its 2 horses. Youm and Fame ......
Cornation cup is only form, I think Youms love for Longchamp and the ground make him the value.
People stay "fame stays all day"
But Channon said Youm is a 2m and the owners keep wanting him in these races.
I just hope he can get his head in front.

Cape Blanco £7 at 114 and more at much less.Bekhabad a huge fear tonight though. His breeding is miles ahead of the rest of the field (By Sea the Stars sire Cape Cross/out of Kris-Mill Reef.Workforce hah.See King George and notice way he fell away from Blanco off a stiff pace.Blanco stayed on for second. He won the Irish Derby and ran a great time in the Irish Champion, murdered them and not stopping.Worst fear is Aiden drops him out with stamina fears,he hates it.Ride him like he stays.Nothing coming late on this ground.Poor old Youmzain. If not for Dylan Thomas,Zarkava and Sea the Stars.Another year cant help but he may get third.Planteur and Fame and Glory nice horses but Arc winners?...essentially stayers.Have a look at Arctic in the Abbaye.Am I deluded or is this a 20-1 sure thing?Swiss Diva form reads well but whats the form amount to.Lady of the Desert is class and in the purple but 5f and boggy ground and recent run give concern.20s Arctic for me...get on.

Cavalryman for me, at last he races right handed on ground with some give, raced r/h at Royal Ascot but on g/f and 10 furlongs. Right handed and very soft suits him perfectly.
