Rip Van Winkle for me......CC wont catch him this time as Rip will be fitter. Makfi has to put behind him the memory of a bad experience at Royal Ascot. Rip is huge value
Makfi had a throat infection, don't think he'll consider it a bad experience and can't see it affecting him in the race, question is whether you think his Marois run is over rated because the others didn't go in the ground.

I wasn't expecting RVW to run in this. Makfi for me - this colt is a really top class miler - just like the Guineas I don't think Canford will get to him. Dick Turpin might be a good price.

I think CC Guieas run is underestimated. He ran from a low draw that day and when the field is 14 runners + on GF high stalls are favoured. So much so Xtension managed to finish 4th.
CC has improved a bundle since then aswell!! Cert imo.

But I do think the Draw factor at HQ should not be underestimated. It takes a horse as good as Sea The Stars to win from low draws in big field on GF. How else did Xtension get so close in 4th ?
Just my opinion but think CC is a different Gravitas to the rest of the milers.
Hard to tell.Soft ground is always an anomally imo.But I do think the Draw factor at HQ should not be underestimated. It takes a horse as good as Sea The Stars to win from low draws in big field on GF. How else did Xtension get so close in 4th ?Just
Comfortably the best horse in the Guineas, a bad run in the SJP was due to a legit excuse (throat infection) and then beats the best miler in the world on his next start.
He'll make it 2-1 over Canford.

Makfi for some reason doesn't get the credit it deserves.
If Canford had done what Makfi did to Goldi and Paco we wouldn't hear the end of it.

Another plus for Makfi that ground doesn't matter.
They didn't like it but Makfi made older class act Group horses look normal that day without being fully put into the race a couple of taps is all he needed.

Not sure the lightning fast ground you can gt at Ascot will suit Makfi who is so good in the mud. Horses are rarely so versatile. I know he handled it at Newmarket but there is an old saying that horses will go on anything once and Ascot can come up quicker again than Newmarket.
I don't know the forecast though so I'm just speculating.

Slightly off topic but am I the only one who thinks its madness running RVW in the QEII over the half a mile longer Arc?
Surely, his runs over 10f scream a step up in trip is needed and not a drop back.
And to add to that. Fame And Glory will be too slow for the best of them at Longchamp. Cape Blanco probably won't get the distance. Madness from APOB and Ballydoyle in my opinion.

Can't have RVW dropping back in trip so soon after his last two races. I fancy Makfi to win and confirm the guineas form regardless of how the ground is.
1 - Makfi
2 - Hearts Of Fire
3 - Canford Cliffs

This looks interesting with Ryan Moore back on board following the Dewhurst last year.
Had a light season and only inches behind RVW last time out.
