While Im champing at the bit for the new NH season to start the Ayr Gold Cup is a cracking way to see out the Flat for me.
Ive been following this Hills horse from the start of the season and on the run up to last weeks race I felt he was about to come good. An e/w bet wasnt bad with him staying onto grab 4th over 7f but dropping back in trip tomorrow I feel he may find a bit more improvement.
A winner of his debut he has struggled to get his head infront since but has ran some good races in the process. Rated 113 after his debut season he had dropped to 99 by the start of 2010. A good 4th on soft ground was folowed by an unlucky 2nd at Thirsk, only going down a nose he was unlucky not inrunning but to bump into Markab who at the age of 7 has improved 14lbs this season and is now rated 118.
Nto he performed well in the Group 2 Duke of Yor finishing midfield but only beaten under 4L. 2 bad runs from his next 3 were split by a 6th in the Sky Bet Dash. Finishing 2&1/2L behind Hawkeyethenoo in 6th he has a 8lbs pull in the weights for that run yet is 4 times the price of the goldie runner (also has an 11Lbs pull with the 2nd that day). Upped to 7f last week he travelled well out the back and was produced with a good run but just didnt seem to see it out. Drawn in 19 I feel he will break well and sit midfield coming with a late run. The pace should be electric and set the race up for him. While Hills could be in better form of late his 50% stike rate at the course shows he doesnt send them up here for a day out. At 33s I feel his a decent bit of value.
For what its worth ive also backed Jonny Mudball at 12s but think heis getting a bit short now.
Stable form a massive concern here, Abbot. One winner (at 8/15) from last thirty one runners: includes three other odds on favs. I'm afraid all of Bazza's are getting a line straight through them here at the moment. With the narrow spread of weights, this has the look of a group contest and for that reason I like Genki who is drawn close to a couple of 7f horses who may give him a nice tow.

was looking at this one myself but as has been pointed out .. the stable form is desperate at the moment. They have 3 or 4 runners in Maidens today so see how they get on.

As mentioned stable form isnt good but Im not sure Id be putting a line through all runner just yet. Last saturday he had 3 runners includeing Damien beaten under 2L in top handicaps and a Gr2.

li not sure of your logic about getting a tow of 7 furlong horses in a 6 furlonf race, surely all logic says they,ll be outpaced ,wouldnt you rather be drawn next to some 5 furlong horses to take you into the race, but we all look at a race differently ,either way i,m on genki
